First Friday in Downtown Lancaster

First Friday
Neighborhood: Lancaster City
Lancaster, PA 17603
United States of America
Lancaster City is home to some amazing arts and cultural events, but the most popular are the First Friday events which are held from 5-9 p.m. the First Friday of every month. Most of the art galleries stay open until 9 p.m. the First Friday of every month and feature a different resident artist or gallery exclusive.

First Friday gallery events are all free to the public, and many galleries offer free drink or snacks to the patrons. The public is encouraged to roam around the downtown city, including the infamous 'Gallery Row' shops and artisans, to explore the many electric styles of the city's artisans.

Whether Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter, the galleries are accommodating to the public and encourage families to visit Lancaster City to explore the renaissance culture that has exploded in the city over the past few years. Do not be surprised to see gallery owners and artists on hand meet and greet you and to help you search for the perfect glassware, painting, photograph, or other artistic wares.

Everyone is welcome to attend the First Friday gallery openings and events, and many downtown shops and venues are open late for the festivities. Musicians are known to supply musical entertainment on the street corners and in the pubs while you tour the city's venues.

A list of the Friday Friday vendors and participants can be found here. Over 50 galleries and stores are open to showcase the most recent work of local and renowned artists. Many items can be purchased immediately.
