This festival begins on December 31, 2008, starts at 1 pm, and continues until midnight. Event locations are included on the First Night Program Guide 2009, and include such notable establishments as the American Repertory Theatre, Copley Square, and USS Constitution Museum. For families and kids, many activities are available at First Night Boston 2009. The FedEx family festival holds many exhibits and shows designed to teach and encourage positive growth in children, families, and those new to exhibits. For instance, there is a show performed by the Galapagos Puppets known as "The Banana Princess". It involves the use of traditional Taiwanese puppets. The story involves puppet disciples that protect a monk's journey to India. Another puppet performance by the Magpie Puppets is called "Eeyore's Birthday". This performance is based on A.A. Minhe's classic story, as Eeyore and his friends celebrate his birthday and learn to solve their problems, surviving through good intentions and hard luck. Information on hotel prices and transportation are included on the First Night Boston website as well as their program guide.
There are two fireworks events planned: First, by Boston 4 Productions, located at Boston Commons from 7:00 pm - 7:12 pm, "Boston's Family Fireworks Celebration" will be held in tandem with Mayor Thomas M. Menino. This will be the 10th consecutive year of the City of Boston's committment to a dazzling fireworks display. At the Boston Harbor from 12:00 - 12:10 am, Verizon Yellow Pages and superpages.com will be performing in tandem with Zambelli Internationale to create a fireworks presentation that mirrors the mind in its ability to dazzle the audience. This is a once-a-year event that none shall regret attending. Everyone be sure to check out First Night Boston 2009, as this will be the 33rd celebration of the arts and community in the state of Boston. Many shall attend and share in the cherished wish that begins a new cycle and promises a new year filled with resolution!
