First Rockland County, NY, Winter Snow Storm 2010

The first snow storm to hit Rockland County, NY, started in Suffern, NY, between 10 and 11 a.m. My husband and were at the local Starbucks after heading back from NJ where we got gas for the car, stopped at Shoprite for a few groceries, and did a little after-Christmas shopping at the Ramsey, NJ, Joann's Fabrics.

I managed to get a few pictures with my digital camera about 4:00 am after it grew quiet outside, but I had technical difficulties either on this site or my computer had problems. There was a crew of a couple of men shoveling a path around our complex a short while ago, but otherwise all seems to be completely quiet and dark outside. It's the beauty of the snow storm that drove me to go right outside our condo to snap a few pictures, post them online on my computer, and to write this article and upload the pictures.

It is times like this that I really enjoy Winter. It's so quiet and peaceful, and the freshly fallen snow is truly beautiful as well as the dark sky with its twinkling stars! I'm going to just enjoy it and get dressed and go outside to photograph a few more pictures before the big clean up. Its beautiful Christmastime snowy scenes like this that helped me to decide to return to New York from beautiful Florida, where many New Yorkers and people from other Northern states often flee. I do think that the "Snow Birds," who manage to live in both places have the best of both worlds; if I ever win the Lottery, I plan to have a condo in both places myself.
