Writing for Change 2007, August 23-25, will be the first conference of its kind dedicated to nonfiction books about personal or planetary change. Writers in the fields of business, culture, environment, health, media, politics, social issues, spirituality and technology will attend.

The conference will take place at the Wilsey Conference Center at Grace Cathedral, San Francisco, CA. Writers will have the chance to network with editors, agents and authors. The keynote speakers include Rachel Naomi Remen, author of Kitchen Table Wisdom; Philip Zimbardo, author of The Lucifer Effect; and Riane Eisler, author of The Real Wealth of Nations.

Writing for Change founders and literary agents Elizabeth Pomada and Michael Larsen head-up the conference as another in the line of San Francisco Writers Conferences.

Attendees will have the chance to network, learn from and share their ideas with authors, agents, editors and publishing professionals from the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, and New York. Anyone with a book or idea they are dying to share can find other individuals to work with to increase writing and publishing skills.

Keynote Speakers

Riane Eisler is a social scientist, macrohistorian, attorney and activist. Her books are published in over 25 languages.

Philip Zimbardo is a Stanford professor, former President of the American Psychological Association and host of the PBS series Psychology. Zimbardo's book, The Lucifer Effect, combined 30 years of research into his take on the causes of evil.

Rachel Naomi Remen, M.D. is a nationally recognized pioneer in the Mind-Body health movement. She is Clinical Professor of Family Medicine at UCSF School of Medicine, and her course, The Healer's Art, is taught in 60 medical schools nationwide. Her bestselling books Kitchen Table Wisdom: Stories That Heal and My Grandfather's Blessings: Stories of Strength, Refuge and Belonging have translated into 18 languages and won numerous awards.

Pomada and Larsen offer tips for attendees. Wear business casual attire, with comfortable shoes. Bring business cards to share with agents, editors and your fellow conference attendees but do not bring your entire manuscript. Bring a brief synopsis or one page description of your book as well as the first few pages of your book.

The Writing for Change 2007 conference will provide breakfast and lunch on Friday and Saturday at the conference, as well as a dinner guide for the evenings.
