Don't rush out the door to buy Jedi Mind's "Think-Tac-Toe" without owning an Emotiv EPOC neuroheadset. The Emotiv EPOC neuroheadset is a device that uses electrical signals made your brain to carry out commands. It can be used in conjunction with your computer to perform routine tasks without the use of your keyboard, or mouse. The included intuitive software EmoKey will let owners of an Emotiv EPOC neuroheadset to associate thoughts and actions with tasks. The Emotiv EPOC neuroheadset has a retail price of $299, and may be purchased from Emotiv.com.
Using the Emotiv EPOC Neuroheadset
One example on the Emotive website is that it is "as simple as linking the Expressive smile detection to characters such as : ), so that chat applications instantly know when you smile." The commands can additionally be "as complex as linking a lift command to a sequence of keystrokes that trigger a levitation spell in a game," by raising your hand.
Practical Applications of the Emotiv EPOC Neuroheadset
One practical application for the Emotiv EPOC neuroheadset (if they haven't thought about it yet), would be to control a motorized wheelchair for people who do not have the use of their hands. There are also bound to be hundreds of other uses.
Jedi Mind and Emotiv vs. Nintendo Wii
There is no doubt in anyone's mind that Nintendo Wii is a hit. Jedi Mind's "Think-Tac-Toe" and Emotiv's EPOC neuroheadset have a long way to go before being on the same table. It would take several other companies other than JedI Mind, and a slew of popular titled games to make Emotiv take off.
Jedi Mind and "The Force"
Jedi Mind's application of the Emotiv EPOC neuroheadset for "Think-Tac-Toe" makes one believe they are wielding "The Force." It is certainly an amazing concept, and one that could see a lot of potential if marketed right. Perhaps we will be seeing a Star Wars title produced by JedI Mind in the not so distant future.
