First Time Ballot NFL Hall of Fame Players

David Kenny
The pro football Hall of Fame is one of the hardest clubs to be inducted into. To qualify to be on the ballet for the pro football Hall of Fame a player has to have been retired for at least five years. Most of the time the people who inducted into the pro football hall of fame have been retired for more than five years, but every so often there are people who are first time ballet Hall of Fame players. Every year there are only five players who get inducted into the pro football Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is for the best pro football players of all time. The first time Hall of Fame players are the best of the best in professional football, usually they hold more than one important record.

There are great players who have only been on the Hall of Fame ballot a few times. Some players cannot get inducted to the Hall of Fame because each time their name is on the ballot there are other great players that play the same position as them, who take their spot. The voters like to inducted players from different positions. They do not like to vote in all quarterbacks in the same year. When one of the NFL greats retires it can also make it harder for the older players to get inducted into the pro football Hall of Fame. For example, in 2010 Kurt Warner retired for professional football. He is a sure first ballot Hall of Fame, in five years he will be taking the spot of an older great NFL player. If Brett Favre retires again this year he will take the spot of another older player because he is going to be another first ballot Hall of Fame.

Players like Cris Carter and Tim Brown were not elected. Cris Carter is in his third year of eligibility and has not been inducted into the pro football Hall of Fame. Carter is third in career receptions with 1,101. In 2010 once again Carter was not inducted into the Hall of Fame. It just goes to show how hard it is to be a first time ballot Hall of Fame. It shows how great players like Joe Montana, Troy Aikman, and Steve Young are. In the 2010 two players were inducted into the pro football Hall of Fame on their first year of eligibility. NFL greats Jerry Rice and Emmitt Smith were both first ballot Hall of Fame players.
