If you're a parent, you know that having a reliable swing is a must have item. Swings soothe your baby and most of the time even help your little bundle of joy get to sleep. And, as every parent knows, a sleeping baby makes mom and dad happy.

I recently needed to purchase a new swing because the swing I had been using suddenly stopped working. I decided on The Fisher Price Precious Planet Open Top Take Along Swing. One of the main reasons I purchased this swing is that it is portable. It is not a full sized swing, so it takes up less room in the home. It also folds nearly flat for easy storage or for taking on vacations or trips to grandma's house. The swing plays music, and has several speed settings. The biggest perk of all is that this swing is economical. With most full sized swings ranging in price from $80-$150, the low price of $55-$65 for this swing is refreshing.

I've been using this swing for several months now and I am very happy with its performance. This swing is sturdy and holds larger babies with ease. Other swings that I've used in the past tend to swing much slower when you place a heavier baby in the swing, but this one doesn't do that. In fact, I would tend to say that the higher speed is a bit too fast for a younger baby. I would suggest that if you have a baby under 6 months old, you should use the lower 3 speeds.

The swing is very lightweight, which makes it easy to carry from one room to another. It also features a removable toy bar with two adorable rain forest animal toys for your baby to look at. The music is soothing and not annoying. The print is absolutely adorable and also matches the other Fisher Price Precious Planet items. The manufacturer lists this swing as being able to hold a child up to 25 pounds in weight, so you will be able to get quite a bit of use out of this product for a great price.

As a parent who has owned several different swings over the years, I can tell you that this is by far the best swing I've ever owned. It's sturdy, adorable, functional, and portable. I even think that the rain forest theme is gender-neutral, so you could potential use it for a boy or girl. That alone makes it even more economical since you can save it for use as a hand-me-down to future children.

If you are interested in purchasing this swing, it is available at Amazon.com, Target, Babies R Us, and other major retailers.
