Fisher-Price Soothe'n Play Bouncer

Sleepy Time

Alyssa Branen
When my son was little, he would not sleep in his cradle. When he got a little bigger he refused to sleep in his crib. The only thing that he would sleep in, was his Fisher-Price Soothe'n Play Bouncer. I would set him in that little bouncy chair and turn on the calming vibrations and he would fall fast asleep. Even during the day, he would often sit in that little chair and watch Baby Einstein or Teletubbies. We used it until he was able to sit up on his own. At that point the didn't want to just sit still anymore.

The Soothe'n Play Bouncer takes one "D" alkaline battery and can hold up to 25 pounds. There is an arch over the bouncer that holds a few dangling toys. Some of them make soothing rattle noises. They are brightly colored, so they stimulate the senses. You can remove the toy holding bar if you don't want it on there. Probably one of the best parts is that you can remove the chairs cover and wash it in the washing machine. This was helpful for times when Travis would spit up all over himself. It was easy to remove, and easy to put back on.

I will definitely be getting another chair like this, or similar, as Travis loved sleeping in it and playing with the toys. He improved his hand and finger skills by tugging at the toys all day long. Then at one point the was even trying to pull himself up by hanging onto the bar that the toys were on.

The Fisher-Price Soothe'n Play Bouncer, in addition to the Winnie The Pooh swing that we bought was probably the best investment we made when our son was a baby. I couldn't have gotten by without these two items. The Soothe'n Play Bouncer is very easily portable too, so you can take it with you when traveling on vacation or a friend's house. Fisher-Price has a number of great baby products that I would highly recommend. I kind of miss the good old days when my little Tasmanian devil sat still in his baby chair and smiled at me, instead of running around unrolling toilet paper and coloring on my walls with "craywas".
My sister in law just recently found out she is pregnant again, so maybe I will buy her one of these as a baby shower gift.
