When if comes to fishing for trout, few baits compare to the good old "American" worm. Worms are an extremely effective bait for trout and in this article I'm going to explore a couple of tips and one technique that has helped me have a ton of success fishing for trout - with worms. I now that if these tips and the technique work for me, they will work for anyone. So let's get down to business, shall we?
The first thing to keep in mind when fishing for trout with worms is that those worms can be either live or synthetic. What do I mean by synthetic? There is one company in particular (Berkley) that manufactures synthetic worms called either "Gulp" worms or "Power" worms. These synthetic worms are as effective (if not more effective) that live worms for trout fishing. These synthetic worms truly are a breakthrough in the fishing world. So the bottom line is that either type of worm can be employed effectively to fish for trout.
The next thing to keep in mind when fishing for trout is your fishing line. The line you use when trout fishing needs to be as light as possible. I personally use four-pound test for trout fishing, and any fishing line heavier than six-pound test should not be used. Trout are usually found in cold, clear water and if fishing line that's too heavy is used, the trout will see it and tend not to bite.
The next thing to keep in mind when fishing for trout with worms is your hooks. Single hooks should not be employed; instead gang hooks should always be used. Gang hooks are simply a pair of small hooks tied in tandem, thus enabling worms to be presented in completely outstretched and natural manner. This natural presentation makes a huge difference in bite rates.
The last thing to keep in mind is when you're on the water fishing for trout. What exactly to I mean by when? By paying attention to the weather and moon and using this information to your advantage will help you determine when you're fishing. By learning the basics of how the weather and moon affect fishing, you will catch many more trout, I promise you.
These simple, yet highly effective tips will help you have much more success when fishing for trout with worms. As a matter of fact, these simple tips will help you have much more fishing success no matter what species of fish you happen to be after. Every one of these remarkable fishing tips can be used to make you a better and more successful angler.
