Chicaugon Lake
Chicaugon Lake is located in beautiful Iron River Michigan, and in my opinion, it's one of the best places for fishing in the area. Although it's really too large to navigate with a simple row boat, it's by far one of my favorite places for fishing in the upper peninsula of Michigan. It's a fantastic fishing lake for those with a motorboat, and it's the perfect place for a relaxing fishing vacation.
What stands out in my mind about Chicaugon Lake was the cleanliness and the lucidity of this massive body of water. The water was crystal clear, even in very deep locations, and on a sunny day you'll be able to watch the fish swim up to your line. I recall watching jumbo lake perch, bass, and bluegill swim up to my hook, and I was amazed that I could actually see the fish coming out of the vegetation for the bait. My family caught scores of jumbo perch, huge bluegill, northern pike, and large mouth bass during our day on the lake.
Horserace Rapids
Would you like to try fishing for rock bass, pan fish, and perch over the edges of massive rocks that line a beautiful picturesque river? Horserace Rapids, which is the beginning of the Paint River, is located approximately 7.5 miles outside of Crystal Falls Michigan off of St. Rd. 2, east of Airport Road, and the view is absolutely breathtaking. The winding river that flows over a bed of rocks is untouched by time, and the still areas along the bank are a haven for fish and a paradise for those who love fishing.
I've visited Horserace Rapids many times, and each time I get out of my vehicle and head down the footpath toward the rushing water, my heart races in anticipation. Horserace Rapids is my favorite place on the face of the Earth, and the fishing there is phenomenal. Although every fish caught may not be a keeper, fishing at Horserace rapids in the upper peninsula of Michigan is like a day of fishing in heaven. The sound of the rushing water is loud, but it's soothing, and while surrounded by nature, it's one of the most relaxing places you could ever consider fishing in the upper peninsula of Michigan.

Post a CommentSecretsides: I love the view from the bridge. It's an amazing sight, and the color of the water is beautiful beyond description. It was a 5 mile drive that seemed to last only seconds. I'm looking forward to going back again too.
Lovely article and very picturesque, I can see it in my mind and memory. We like to go just over the bridge and visit the island, and also White Fish Point and Sioux Choix(spelling, Lighthouse, and lakes. I am ready to go back!
