Fishstock 2010: Fishing and Family Fun in New Smyrna Beach, Florida

The 8th annual Fishstock four-day event will be hosted at Riverside Park in New Smyrna Beach, Florida during Memorial Weekend 2010. Activities include silent auctions, offshore and onshore fishing tournaments, 5K Family Fun running marathon, fly fishing and kayak seminars, youth fishing clinics, vendor booths, live music and mouthwatering foods.

Fishstock is a family-friendly event offering environmental awareness and introduces visitors to water sports and fishing lifestyle. Fishing seminars and events raise money for charities and causes, and engage children in a variety of hands-on activities.

This interactive event attracts more than 4,000 anglers and visitors from around the world. Fishing tournament participants compete for big money prizes and bragging rights. Families participate in running marathons and receive free T-shirts and the chance to acquire trophies. This four-day food and music festival allows visitors to indulge in fresh seafood and local foods, attend seminars conducted by world-famous anglers, and engage in plenty of fun in the sun activities.

Fishstock 2010 Events for Thursday, May 27th

Angler registration, Captain and Anglers meeting, and the Fishstock 2010 Kickoff Party begins at 4 p.m. with the ever-popular CCA silent auction. The Coastal Conservation Association Florida is a statewide advocate whose ongoing efforts protect Florida's marine life, restore natural habitats and help educate residents and visitors about Florida's diverse ecosystem.

The CCA silent auction will be hosted at the Brannon Center located at 105 Riverside Drive. Auction items include a wide variety of fishing gear and electronics, marine accessories, and art and sculptures created by local artists. Auction proceeds will be donated to the local CCA chapter and used to fund ongoing advocacy initiatives.

Anglers participating in Fishstock fishing tournaments are required to attend the Captains meeting at 7:45 p.m. Tournament fees must be paid and boat registration completed no later than 9 p.m. in order to compete in on- and offshore fishing tournaments. The public is invited to attend the Fishstock Dockside Party offering exceptional local food and live music. The party begins at 7:00 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. This family-friendly event is a great way to catch the excitement, meet tournament anglers, and learn new fishing techniques.

Fishstock 2010 Events for Friday, May 28th

The 34th annual New Smyrna Beach / Daytona Beach Striker Tournament begin at 6:30 a.m. and ends at 5:30 p.m. Offshore anglers compete for over $100,000 in cash prizes in their quest for catching the biggest wahoo, mahi-mahi, marlin, sailfish, tuna and king mackerel.

Final registration for the 8th Annual New Smyrna Beach Redfish-Trout Challenge will be held at the Brannon Center beginning at 4:00 pm. All fishing teams must pay tournament fees and obtain credentials during the registration period and attend the Captain's meeting scheduled at 7:30 p.m.

The Fishstock Dockside Party opens to the public at 7 p.m. and ends at 9:00 p.m. Visitors will be treated to toe-tapping island music and Southern rock-and-roll, along with great tasting beach treats.

Fishstock 2010 Events for Saturday, May 29th

Saturday is a busy day for Fishstock events. The day begins with offshore and inshore fishing tournaments with lines in at 6:30 a.m.

Participants of the 5K Family Fun Race should arrive at Riverside Park to pick up registration packets and begin warm-up exercises. The 5K Family Run Race is perfect for people of all ages and commences at 8:00 a.m. Each participant receives an exclusive 2010 Fishstock 5K race T-shirt, and the chance to win trophies and awards.

Fishstock is also hosting a Kids Fun Run which commences at 9:00 a.m. The Kids Fun Run is perfect for kids aged 2 to 8 and helps them develop a fun-loving competitive nature and enjoyable exercise experience.

Awards and trophies will be presented at 10:00 a.m. for winners and participants in both Fishstock marathon running events.

The Fishstock Village opens to the public at 10:00 a.m. Visitors can participate in fishing seminars; shop for a wide variety of boats presented by industry leader manufacturers and boating retailers; and visit vendor booths to purchase local wares including pottery, art work, jewelry, fishing gear, electronics, packaged foods, spices and seasonings, music CDs, boating gear and clothing.

Fishing tournament weigh-ins begin at 6:00 p.m. and the dockside party continues in full swing until 9:00 p.m.

Fishstock 2010 Events for Sunday, May 30th

Closing events for Fishstock 2010 begin with the inshore Redfish-Trout Challenge tournament with lines in at 6:30 a.m. The inshore weigh-in station opens at 11:00 a.m., lines out at noon, and final weigh-in at 1:00 p.m.

The Fishstock Village opens to the public at 10:00 a.m. and visitors are welcome to attend the world-class boat show, participate in fishing and marine life seminars, shop at vendor booths, indulge in beach food by the Budweiser Beer Garden, listen to live music, and register kids aged 6 to 16 for KidStock.

KidStock teaches children how to tie fishing knots, cast fishing rods, learn about underwater creatures, understand the importance of conservation, become educated about water safety, and interact with experienced anglers.

Fishing tournament awards ceremonies will be presented at the Brannon Center at Riverside Park. Inshore awards presentation begins at 5:00 p.m., followed by offshore awards at 5:30 p.m.

Fishstock is the total saltwater experience event that should not be missed. Mark your calendar and plan on spending time at this highly popular, fun, entertaining and educational event!
