If you feed enough, your fish should not need any more food for the next 24 hours. Keep in mind though that if you have not sold off all the fish you got in the tutorial (the ... needs 2 hours before it matures) those fish will not live through the night without food.

Advanced FishVille strategy

Once you get the hang of the basics of fish keeping it's time to look into some advanced strategies. The first thing you will notice is that you can keep several fish tanks at the same time. The first two are free, don't waste any money on buying any more tanks before you have to. The separate tanks are only really useful once you get higher up in the levels and can start buying fish that are not compatible with each other.

In the beginning, the most important strategic decisions will be to create a schedule for when to buy and sell fish. Players familiar with Cafe World can use many of the same stacking strategies from that game. The cooking times of the dishes in Cafe World are very similar to the grow times of the fish in FishVille. The key to successfully schedule your fish breeding is to look ahead at what times you typically will be playing the game.
