Fishville on Facebook: Tips, Tricks, and How to Play
Swim with the Fishes in Zynga's Fishville on Facebook!
What are the different life stages of fish? Why is this important?
Fishville fish go through four stages of life. The amount of time the fish stays in each stage depends on the species. This is vital to gameplay, as you receive XP and coins based on the fish's value.
Egg: When you buy a new fish and drop it into the tank, it's in its egg stage. The fish stays at this stage for only seconds.
Baby: Immediately after you drop the fish into the tank, it changes from egg to baby. When a fish is at the baby stage, it cannot be sold. Mouse over the fish to see how much time is left before it reaches the Junior stage.
Junior: Once a fish reaches its Junior stage, it can be sold for the same amount of coins it was when you purchased it in the store. Junior stage has four levels. At each level, the fish size increases, as well as the amount of coins the fish sells for, the XP you receive when sold, and the amount of time the fish can go without food.
Adult: This is where you make decent coin-age! The adult stage has four levels. Once a fish reaches level 4 adulthood, it is at its maximum value for coins and XP. Fish can grow older than level 4 adulthood, but you won't get any additional XP or coins beyond level 4.
How often do I need to feed my fish?
As soon as you drop a new fish into your tank, it needs to be fed. The yellow food container icon appears over a fish when it's hungry and has one growth interval left for it to be fed. This icon turns red when the fish starts to starve. When the red icon starts blinking, your fish is close to death and needs to be fed immediately. A fish in its adult stage gets hungry at the rate equal to its growth. It will die at the same rate. For example, the Shy Hamlet is a four hour fish. This fish will die when eight hours have passed without being fed.
How much does fish food cost?
Fish food is free.
I'm trying to feed my hungry fish. Why do all the fish without the yellow food icon grab the food before the hungry fish does?
I'm not exactly sure about this, but I'm assuming it's because those fish are hungry too, but haven't reached the critical hunger stage when the icon appears. Keep dropping food in your tank until the icon disappears.
What happens when a fish dies?
Just like in real life, your fish will float upside down at the top of your tank. Click the net icon, then click the fish to remove. You receive 1 XP for disposing of the dead fish.
Can a fish die of old age?
No. As long as you keep feeding it, your fish will live.
Can I rename my fish tank? Can I name fish?
No, fish tanks and fish cannot be renamed.
How many tanks can I own?
At this time, it looks like you can own up to 8 tanks. Additional tanks are unlocked at various levels. Each additional tank has a neighbor requirement. You can bypass these requirements by spending Sand Dollars.
How do I earn more Sand Dollars?
You'll need to purchase using real money, just like on other social networking games. Sand Dollars allow you to buy special items.
How do I sell my fish?
You can sell your fish at any stage past "Baby." Mouse-over the fish to see how much coins and XP it is worth. Click on the net icon, then click on the fish you'd like to peddle.
Why is my tank so dark?
It needs to be cleaned. Click on the mucky green areas of the screen to clean your tank.
How do I get more neighbors?
Click on the Fishville "neighbors" tab. Scroll down to the bottom to see if any of your friends play. If so, send a neighbor request. Otherwise, search "Fishville" in the Facebook search box to find Fishville groups. Post a message to the wall and you'll receive neighbor requests. If you don't want strangers on your Facebook page, you can remove the person from your friends list after you are Fishville neighbors.
Can I feed my friend's fish?
No, at this time this feature is not available. You can only clean the tank.
Do I have to sell my fish?
No, but selling your fish is the quickest way to level up and earn more coins. Tanks can only hold so many fish - eventually your tank will fill up and you will not be able to hatch any additional fish without selling some.

Post a CommentAlso, naming your fish helps you to keep from selling it by accident. I named one "Moose" just being silly and when I was selling the tank of fish, it popped up with a warning when I was about to sell Moose.
Good info!!
