The name of the new model has been derived from Buddhism and Hinduism, which happen to be Karma cultures, which believe in the force generated by the good or bad actions of individuals.
The concept of the new car fits perfectly with the name it was given and it is expected to be the first luxury car in mass production, whose contribution will be very important for the automotive industry, new generations and ultimately the environment itself.
The heart of Karma The technology behind the Fisker Karma hybrid has been developed by Quantum Technologies. Called Q DRIVE mechanics and based on a small gasoline engine that activates a generator which loads the package of lithium ion batteries on the electric motor and consequently moving the rear wheels.
The design allows for up to a 50 mile walk with electric charge achieved overnight. If the drivers routine is set to connect the car overnight to a wall outlet, and only drives the car less than 50 miles during the daytime, the driver will only need to fill the tank once a year.
Currently, 60 percent of North American and European drivers drive less than 50 miles a day, making these drivers the main target group for this technology. Buyers of the Fisker Karma will be offered to install a solar roof which will charge the batteries for the air conditioning while heat escapes the cabin of the car when parked for long hours under the sun.
Additionally, the Karma offers its customers solar panels for their garages and ceilings, thereby capturing energy during the day to charge your car at night.
Thinking of design and function, Fisker describes his car as: "Similar to the height of a Porsche 911, along with a Mercedes Benz CLS and the width of a BMW 7 Series. Its body and chassis use aluminum, thus reducing their weight.
The figure of this four-door sports sedan expresses guidance in the automotive industry with a pioneer spirit. The batteries are located in the middle of both axes to give it balance and stability.
The interior boasts with good taste, comfort and luxury. It is said that it has four first class seats because of how comfortable every seat is. The trunk provides ample space to accommodate golf bags and suitcases.
The Fisker Karma has two modes: the furtive, which is the most economical, quiet, relaxing and efficient, while the sports package allows access to the full force of the car. To select between these two modes the driver simply moves a small lever located on the tree, behind the wheel.
The first Eco-Chic
True to his mantra "Just World Class", Fisker Automotive offers this car without any parallels in the history of car making. It is considered a pioneer of the eco-chic segment. In other words it is environmentally friendly but fashionable, carrying the latest and ultimate trend.
Exotic, high-quality, high performance, the Fisker Karma went on the market in late 2009. It has budgeted for a production of 15 thousand units, of which the first 99 will have the personal signature of Henrik Fisker, CEO of Fisker Automotive.
