What is it?
The Fitbug is a pedometer that records all the usual information such as regular steps, aerobic steps, calories burnt and distance travelled. Aerobic steps are steps taken in continued exercise for a period of 10 minutes or more.
What makes it unique?
When buying the Fitbug members can buy either three months or twelve months access to Fitbug.com and can continue to use the service for a monthly charge thereafter. At Fitbug.com members get a service that is comparable to that of a personal trainer. This includes daily regular and aerobic step targets, daily calorie recommendations and further advice on health and fitness. Members keep track of their progress using various tools on the website. Many of these are represented in various charts to allow members to analyse diet and fitness performance. The Fitbug website also allows members to enter other exercise such as swimming and gym equipment that Fitbug can't accurately measure. Members also have access to an online forum. There is advice on the website how to reach step targets. In order to maintain motivation members set targets such as ideal weight and waist measurements.
How it works?
Members are initially accessed for a week to enable Fitbug to create a tailored fitness programme. After the initial week Fitbug will start giving out daily step targets and meal plans to help members achieve their goals. These change every week depending on the previous week performance. For instance a strong previous week will result in increased step targets for the next week.
All the relevant information is tracked through the website and members must upload their daily information. Members are also able to list their food dairy to record their calorie intake and this information can be shown as a pie chart to show amounts of carbs, fat and protein.
