Fitness for kids is a big topic for today's parents. Everyone is looking for the best way to make sure that their children are not sitting in front of the television or video game for hours on end and are getting enough exercise and physical activity to grow into healthy adults.

One great way parents promote physical fitness in children is to sign their kids up for sports or other physical activity. Even the youngest children can get in on this fun trend. There are new kid fitness centers opening all over the country, and many parents are signing their kids up for these great programs.

The Little Gym is a favorite of parents all over the United States. This program is mainly gymnastics based and offers classes in karate, dance and cheer as well as gymnastics. The Little Gym employs people who are knowledgeable about fitness as well as great with children. Kids over three participate in classes without parents, while younger kids can take classes where a parent or caregiver also participates.

My Gym is another great choice for parent and child fitness as well as for classes for older kids. They also offer karate at My Gym and are known for their fantastic birthday parties. My Gym is a fun way to introduce even the youngest children to fitness and to teach kids that exercise can be fun. My Gym often offers free trial classes for families and children of all ages Check their website for details.

Fitwize 4 Kids targets kids from 6 to 15 years old and promotes a healthy lifestyle as well as exercise. Kids are taught to exercise correctly, to eat right and to learn healthy habits for life. Fitwize 4 Kids offers a more grown-up approach to fitness. Strength training and circuit training on real weight lifting equipment is a draw for older kids who want to get fit and for kid athletes who want to develop strength for their sports.

These programs are terrific for helping kids enjoy exercise and be healthy at a young age. If you child isn't interested in a fitness class, try finding a sport she will enjoy instead. Think outside the box. Your child might not want to play football but might be interested in ice-skating or dance instead. Some kids hate anything that involves running but find themselves superstars on the swim team. When you force your child into sports and fitness, you can do more damage than good. Try to find your child something he will enjoy while also getting stronger and more fit.
