At the beginning of May I received a Groupon in my emails. It was for Hammer Time Fitness Core Boxing. The retail price for 10 classes was $100, and they had 66% off. I paid $34 for the classes. The nearest one to me was at, 6313 Adams Street, New Port Richey, Florida.
Before I purchased this I emailed Christine to find out whether it would be for a 63 year old women. She assured me that it would be fine.
This place is so close to home that I went the following week. My husband Len came with me, as he used to do martial arts. Christine told me that I was the only one in the class, so Len stayed to watch.
I had a warming up period, and then did the circuit of equipment. There was a heavy bag to punch, a punch ball, then a red bag to punch, a dummy named Joe, another red bag, 2 steppers, and a bag in the centre that was on wire, so that it moved.
I did a minute on each of these, including jabs, uppercuts, hooks, weaving, and kicks. I took to it immediately. Then Christine had me doing exercises, and aerobics. She worked me really hard, and then I had stretching again to finish up.
During the hour long workout I stopped frequently for water, and to dry any sweat with my towel. Len was totally blown away that I could workout for an hour, and not slowdown or stop. Christine told us that she had younger people than me, that had thrown up after twenty minutes.
I have now completed my ten classes. As well as doing all the above, we go for a jog outside, to warm up, skipping while running outside, and so much more. I have learned many skills that I will continue to practise.
As I continued going through these classes, which have been over a period of almost two months, the classes have increased to 9 or 10 people. That is about the maximum you can get in the room, and be able to workout.
I would say that the average age is late twenties to thirties. These ladies all felt comfortable with each other, and chatted while doing the class. When I pared up with another person to box, they were fine with me, and we exchanged pleasantries, but I feel that I didn't fit in with the crowd.
They have Boot Camp, Kick Boxing, and Flirty Fitness Burlesquercise as well. The classes are run by a personal trainer. You can pay per class, which is $10, or pay $150 for 1 month unlimited camps. They are open 6 days a week, but you have to phone for the times of classes. You sign a form to begin with, as you do with any fitness program, but there is no contract. You will need to take your own bottle of water, and a towel.
I gave Christine my dates for each class, but she told me that I could just turn up, if I wanted to.
I am not going back after the ten classes. If I was 25 years younger I would have felt more comfortable with the clientele that workout there.
I went to the 11.00 a.m. class, but they have early morning, and after work classes too.
As mentioned above I went to the New Port Richey location, telephone 727-916-1655, but they also have classes in Trinity, and Tarpon Springs.

Terrific, keeping fit is so important! Thanks for the link...the original one was broken.
Excellent.. :o)
Anything is better than doing nothing! Good for you, cheers ;)
I am truly impressed with your accomplishments. And I understand your not feeling part of the "crowd" since there an age difference does separate people somewhat in an exercise setting. You were gutsy to even undertake this regime!!! rcj
Sue can practice her boxing with me.
Thanks for your comment Sandy. This had a broken link so nobody could bring it up. Now I know that it is fixed.
