Exercise to Promote Healthy Rewards

With today's economic struggles heightened by the holiday season staring us right in the face, many of us are enduring stressful times. Skipping meals, improper diet, poor sleep habits, couch potato rituals on the rise and binge eating have become commonplace for many of us. The sad fact is that obesity in children and adults is on the rise and has become a steady trend over the past few years. This obesity problem, unfortunately, is directly related to health issues such as high blood pressure, strokes, heart attacks, high cholesterol levels and diabetes. Healthy diet is part of the answer in reversing this curse with exercise completing it. Exercise contributes to increased health by anyone wishing to sculpt their body for a better you, by burning off those unwanted calories/pounds, while increasing stamina and energy levels over the course of a day, Reduced blood pressure, stress levels, heart attack and stroke risks and declining cholesterol levels are also experienced while including proper diet and exercise into their daily life style. With the benefits provided by each of these, why procrastinate and put off your involvement in an exercise program till after the Holidays as part of your New Years resolution?

Take advantage of the results and the new you before it gets any later. Another cool thing that should offer you added incentive is the fact that many fitness centers and gym's are offering great deals to those deciding to get started in an exercise program before the end of the year. Some fitness centers are also offering memberships with no contract involved. The nice thing about this is many people tend to freak out about signing a contract and be bound to paying money till the term of the contract has become exhausted or a hefty penalty could be involved.

OK, an exercise routine doesn't have to be an extensive activity that almost becomes a second job, nor does it have to be carried out on a daily basis at such a high intensity level that it feels like your training for the New York City Marathon or as a Gladiator in Rome. Quite contrary to human belief, The "no pain no gain" slogan doesn't have to be part of your vocabulary to see beneficial results. Spending 15-30 minutes in a gym is adequate to helping you sculpt your body into a better you. Working out on all body parts rather than just concentrating on one or two muscle groups is optimal. You see, your body works in such a way that one muscle group works against another, hence if you don't work on all muscle groups, you run the risk of causing muscle pulls, strains and body proportion irregularity. An example of this is your lats(back) and abdominals(stomach). If you focus too much of your attention on developing your abs while downgrading the importance of complimenting this workout with lat work, your abs will be in much better shape while causing your back to overcompensate for the lack of conditioning leading to possible strains and pulls.

Partaking in an exercise program doesn't have to happen only at a gym either. You can capture the same beneficial results in the comforts of your own home. Working out at home has its advantages like saving time driving to the gym, not having to deal with crowds during high traffic times fighting for the same piece of equipment as you, other people potentially judging you, lack of self confidence and unfamiliarity with variety of equipment. Simply having some free weights, an exercise ball, cardiovascular equipment like a bike, treadmill or elliptical machine will more than suffice in helping you get in shape.

The first and biggest step is taking the initiative to do something about your health. Why wait till the New Year has come and gone coming up with every excuse under the sun why you can't start an exercise program before coming up with reasons why you should get started.

Get involved...Your body will definitely thank you for it, and you will thank yourself for taking the initiative to creating a healthier, better YOU!
