Your Android phone doesn't just have to distract you in class, or let you Angry Birds your way out of studying for final exams. You can actually use the phone to your advantage. Find these five applications/categories to help you breeze through your final exams this semester.
1. BlackBoard Mobile Learn - Any college student should be familiar with Blackboard's online systems for education. The full software package is used by colleges all over the world. Many courses are conducted entirely within the Blackboard system, while many others supplement their instruction with resources provided by the Blackboard system. Now, with Blackboard Mobile Learn on Android, you can check your grades, collaborate with other students, and much more all from your mobile phone. If you school uses Blackboard, you owe it to yourself to use this software. Any connection you can have during finals is a good connection.
2. Flash Cards - While there are many different types of flash card applications available in the Android Market, some stand out above the rest. Simply named Flash Cards , by Cyandroid, provides a simple and free way to use flash cards. Of all the uses of a mobile phone during finals, flash cards seems like one of the most intuitive. Flash Cards allows the user to create their own cards, or share in a growing collaborative database of already made cards. Take a look at the ones out there and use your phone for something productive in your down time between those maddening final exams.
3. Words, Words, Words - Words, Words, Words is a game of sorts designed to improve the user's diction and command of the English language. Promising to help with "effective communication," this program will help you master that English or Rhetoric final. Avoid having to say "um" in your writing. Such weakness is never becoming.
4. Formulas - Just as some students have difficulty with command of English, there are those who have difficulty remembering that key theorem. Formulas Lite is a free program that is a quick database of many common, and not so common, mathematical terms and equations. This is a must have when cramming with a study guide full of terms and theories that should have been learned months ago. Feel free to check and make sure that you can't bring Formulas Light in with you to the final exam.
5. Languages - If you were anything like my friends and I, language classes became the bane of your existence. Thankfully, the global nature of the Android platform has given rise to countless applications that help with the development of foreign language skills. These range from simple flash cards, to games, and up to paid applications that complement specific programs. Since you're in a hurry for final exams, you might try the flash cards first. If you have more time, or are looking to avoid cramming in the future, the Wordpower series of apps helps with most of the more studied world languages.
