1. Crazy Acrylic Tips
First there was the 'pink and white' acrylic French manicure craze, then different color combos started showing up, the biggest being the super scary, clear and black tipped French manicure. This trend along with others, are on their way out. Natural, short nails are making a comeback, and look better with the bold new colors coming out anyway.
2. The Orange Glow of "Tanorexia"
Tanning has been everywhere the last couple of year. But the 'orange' look is definitely over in favor for a more natural look. Not to mention, why age your skin and put yourself at risk for cancer? So opt for a great bronzer, and a tinted moisturizer to give yourself a little color instead of auditioning to be an "Oompa Loompa" in the next revival of the "Wizard of Oz."
3. Gray Eyeshadow
The smoky eye came back in a big way this year, and with it the horrible addition of sterling silver and gray raccoon eyeshadow is thankfully getting the heave-ho in 2011. If you're going to do a smokey eye, be sure to stick to more muted tones. There's nothing attractive about having disco balls for eyes.
4. Lip Gloss
After over a decade on top, lip gloss has been booted by lip stains, and the better formulated long wearing lip colors. So no more getting stuck to your drinking glass, or having to peel your hair off your lips on a windy day. It's time to trade in the hyper shine gloopy lipgloss in for the more subtle formulas that have been the rage so far. But never fear...if you are a devotee of lip gloss, it will be back. It always comes back.
5. "The Poof"
Thanks to "Jersey Shore" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, the poof came back in a big way in 2010. But it's time to retire it for good, heck, not even Snooki wears the poof in her hair anymore. Back combing isn't going anywhere with big hair making a comeback, but the bubble bangs three inches off your head are over.
So there' s the top five trends we're saying "arrivederci" to in the new year. Are you sad to see any of them go? Don't worry, there are so many fun things in store for 2011 beauty wise, you won't even miss these for very long.

Post a CommentThis was a fun read. As a man, suprisingly I have heard of all of these except the "poof". That one made me giggle.
