Five Beauty Secrets You Don't Need to Share

Amanda Furbeck
Beauty secrets. We all have them. But we don't always keep them. As a stylist, I believe that some things are just better left unsaid outside of time spent with your stylist, trainer, or best friend. My advice to you is to simply keep your mouth shut, and allow others to think that you're just naturally that perfect. But if you have trouble keeping your lips sealed, here's a few suggestions on what not to talk about.

You have hair where? Hair removal is a bit of a sticky subject, especially when you're talking about waxing more than just your eyebrows. But seriously, does the whole world need to know that you plucked away your chin whiskers? (If you do have chin whiskers, tell your doctor because it could signal a hormonal imbalance). But seriously, waxing your toe hair, shaving your pits, or going bare you-know-where is seriously taboo. When it comes to talking about it - just don't.

You pay how much for your salon services? I'm sure that you go to an amazing salon and your hair looks great for it. But seriously, you don't have to share every detail about the cost of your color treatment, the amount of moolah for your massage, or the fundage for your facial. Just play it close to the vest, and smile with a twinkle in your eye when someone compliments your lovely locks. After all, you want beauty to seem effortless, not expensive. If fancy salon services are your thing, that's great. Just keep it quiet and let folks think you really do just look that amazing.

You use how many creams and lotions to look like that? An acne gel, a crow's feet cream, serum for sagginess, and paste for puffiness. Let's not forget oil for dryness, balm for redness, and a cleanser to wash it all off at the end of the day. So what if your daily beauty ritual is more complicated than cosmetic surgery. If it works, and you love the results, who cares? Just don't let on that your beauty ritual is so long or your coworkers might think you're more loopy than lovely. Let your radiant skin do all the talking and keep your lips quiet.

You spend how many hours a day at the gym? So you have a rockin' bod and everybody hates you for it. (Not really). I'm pretty sure they'll hate you all the more if they realize that you have the discipline and the stamina to have actually earned it. Let on that you work out a bit? Sure. But don't give away all your secrets. At least not all at once.

You got how many cosmetic procedures done? It may not be wise to let on that you took a sick day for a face lift or that you spent your winter break getting a tummy tuck. Not only are these procedures a little bit controversial, they're also very personal. Don't say a word so you're not tempted to go under the knife for someone else's approval.

Although its always tempting to talk about the taboo, its better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you're a fool, then open your mouth and prove it. Keep your beauty secrets silent and let people think you're naturally beautiful. Because some things are just better left unsaid.
