Benefit #1 - Can Install on Virtually Any Surface
Ceramic tile is very versatile. You can install it on almost any surface in your home provided that the surface is level. If you want to install tile over wood, super! Just take out the level and make sure your bubbles all line up before laying the tiles.
Benefit #2 - You Are the Artist
Ceramic tiles can come in a variety of colors and patterns. By purchasing a variety of each color and / or pattern, you are giving yourself a palette to mix and match. If you want to create an eclectic look, then the ceramic tiles can be laid out in fun patterns. These patterns can be structured in the same manner one might structure a quilt, or they can be abstract concoctions that would make Picasso envious.
Benefit #3 - Easy Maintenance.
After you install and seal your ceramic tiles the first time, you will be all set for several years. With a good and level grouting job, sweeping and mopping are all you will ever need to do. Swiffer brooms and mops work quite well on these floors. I find a regular rag mop to be a bit cumbersome when cleaning the grout. If Swiffer isn't quite your style use a sponge mop. However you choose to mop though, basic cleaning is all that is necessary. Unlike wood floors which need polished or carpet which needs shampooed regularly, ceramic tiles are fine for years at a time.
Benefit #4 - A Cohesive "Look" Or "Theme"
Ceramic floor tiles can really be a bridge between the various parts of your house and help connect the various themes on display. By utilizing ceramic tiles in all of your non-carpeted rooms, you can have a cohesiveness that is rarely achieved with other products such as linoleum. The consistent texture and color patterns of well-chosen tiles help knit the rooms of a house together.
Benefit #5 - An Excellent Return on Your Investment
Ceramic tiles are not the cheapest flooring option on the market, however, they are very durable. Your initial investment in this type of flooring will be diluted over many years of service. If a ceramic tile is ever broken or cracked in an accident, the afflicted piece can be removed and replaced without having to redo an entire section of floor. (Be sure and buy a few ceramic tiles in your color or pattern to have on hand for such an instance.)
Tiles, especially ceramic tiles, are a wonderful investment for the home, and they come with many advantages sure to make any homeowner feel they are worth a second thought.
