Yona Gold
With it being time once again for the "boys of summer" to take the field, many Major League Baseball fans are in search of good sources for information regarding baseball spring training 2009. Here is a list of five of the best sites for those in search of baseball spring training 2009 news and information.

http://www.cactusleague.com

This website is home of the Cactus League teams that hold baseball spring training 2009 in the area of Phoenix, Arizona. The Cactus League for 2009 is home to the following Major League Baseball teams: Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Colorado Rockies, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, and the Texas Rangers. This is a great site if one is planning a trip out to see any of these teams play during baseball spring training. It provides visitors to the site with information regarding which teams are playing each other, maps to the ballparks in the area, as well as allowing for the purchase of tickets to all games. A pro of the site is that it is very user friendly. The cons of the site is that it is not necessarily the best site to get information as to behind the scenes information of the teams.

The Major League Baseball site has a portion of their website dedicated to baseball spring training for both the Cactus and Grapefruit leagues. This site has information including news from each team, ticket information, and ballpark information. Another plus of the site is that it provides visitors with the ability to view the games online directly from the site. The pros are that this is the official site of Major League Baseball. The cons are that the site will not necessarily provide visitors with different perspectives of how the teams are doing in the preseason.

http://www.springtrainingonline.com/

This is by far one of the best website out there for information regarding baseball spring training 2009. It is a site that is updated and has information regarding all of the teams in Major League Baseball. The pros to the site are that it has a vast amount of baseball spring training news, a master schedule for both the Grapefruit and Cactus leagues, and has a discussion board where fans can post opinions or discuss what is happening in the league. A con of the site is that the information is not separated by team, so for specific information one will have to search for the team by name.

http://www.springtrainingwatch.com/

Spring Training Watch is a good source for baseball spring training 2009 information. It provides information on both the Grapefruit and Cactus leagues. The site provides individual information about each one of the major league teams, by providing their own individual section on the site. A pro of the site is that it is user-friendly providing links for tickets, news, stadium information, and much more. A con to the site is that news information comes from multiple sources (AP, Reuters, etc) and may take a while to load as the information links to outside sites.

http://www.floridagrapefruitleague.com

The Florida Grapefruit League is home to the other group of Major League Baseball teams. As one would figure these teams prepare for the regular season in the southern Florida area. The teams that hold baseball spring training 2009 there are: Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays, Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds, Florida Marlins, Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates, Tampa Bay Rays, and Washington Nationals. This site, much like that of the Cactus League, provides wonderful information for those who are such fans they would like to attend some of the games. A pro of the site is that each team has a page dedicated to them. However, a con is that ticket purchases are not available directly from the site nor is the site as professional as that of the Cactus League.
