Five Birthday Gifts for Toddler Girls

Hope L Brock
Little girls are so fun to watch. Most of them like to play pretend, dress-up, and may have a imagining friend (or two). Preparing for a birthday includes picking out the best gift of the little princess.

Potty training aids

If you want to buy a gift that will help parents and the child then you may consider buying some potty training aids. This may include a book, reward chart, or some big kid underwear. These will help the parents introduce the next stage of develop into their little girls life. It will also assure yourself that it is something that is needed and will be used. Every parent of a toddler will need these things eventually, and they can be fun for the child also.

Dress-up

My niece received lots of dress-up clothes at her birthday. This can involve anything from princess dresses to jewelry. Many little girls enjoy dressing 'pretty' and having a pretend party or tea time with their friends or parents. You can find all kind of things in this category . Many times you can find things such as wings at the local dollar store. This is a great gift idea if you are on a budget.

Play kits

Play kits include a doctor set or a cash register with money. These kits include everything to play pretend and aid in the dress up clothes. However, when buying play kits make sure they are age appropriate. Some kits may have small pieces that will be a choking hazard to young child. Most packages will have the age range on the front of the box. If you are in doubt it is best to look at something else.

Books

Books can be a favorite gift for parents and kids. Books will help open a new world to explore, and they will introduce young children to the written word. Books are often overlooked as a great gift idea. If you don't know what to get some great authors include; Eric Carle or Mercer Meyer. If you can not find a way to look things up with an author, then two popular series of books that my children have enjoyed at all ages include; Clifford or Bernstein Bears. This books can be great for all ages and have special books written for special ages.

Make it personal

There are a lot of gift ideas that you can make personal. There are books, videos, and toys the companies offer to put the child's name in or on. By making your gift personal then it will have a lasting effect on the whole family. Many photo development places have the opportunity to make a magazine cover with the child's photo. Sometimes near Christmas time you can make little videos with the child's picture as the star. These will be entertaining to watch for everyone. Toddlers are just starting to recognize themselves, and can you imagine the surprise in their face when they see themselves up on the TV screen.

Special friends

All of these things would be great, but what about someone to share these with. A baby or stuffed animal might be just the trick. Girls love to take care of babies and share their secrets with special stuffed friends. After all, all of the toys in the world would not be worth it without anyone to share it with.

Birthday girls are a lot of fun to spoil. Learning what makes the special girl smile is half the battle. By buying any of these gifts you are sure to be a hit with the birthday girl.

Great ideas. I'm not so sure about potty training items as a birthday gift though.
