Five Bold NFL Predictions for 2010

The NFL and fans everywhere are preparing to kick off the season this weekend, making this the perfect time to share our bold predictions for the 2010 NFL Season.

1) New York Jets Will Not Make the Playoffs

Yes, it is good news that the Jets will have Revis Island to take away one side of the field. But this does nothing on the offensive side of the ball where the Jets need the most help. Their running game will not be the same as in 2009, especially severing ties with players like Thomas Jones and especially Tony Richardson. If they wanted to improve upon their passing game, the Jets should have picked up a wide receiver in the 2010 NFL draft instead of a cornerback. The Jets will come close to a playoff spot, but will not have teams lying down on them at the end of the season.

2) The Houston Texans Will Make the Playoffs

This is going to be the year that the Houston Texans will finally make a trip to the playoffs. The offense is led by one of the NFL's more underrated quarterbacks and the top wide receiver in the game. There is little doubt that the Texans will be able to score. The big question comes with the performance of their defense, especially the secondary. Whether it is a wildcard spot or even as the AFC South division champions, the Texans will have their chance under the sun.

3) Jahvid Best Will Win Offensive Rookie of the Year

Before the preseason began, there were two running backs that the NFL experts continued to hype up on a daily basis. They began to change their tune once they saw the Detroit Lion's Jahvid Best in action. Best has been played like a man possessed every time he had his hands on the ball. Even though he will not be touching the ball 25 plus times per game, Best has the ability to hit a home run on every play. Right now the Lions' management look like geniuses by trading up out of the second round for him.

4) Brett Favre Will Hurt the Vikings' Chances Again

Last year was a special season for Brett Favre, in which he passed for more than 4,000 yards and 30 touchdowns. The problem with Favre is that he plays through pain and that is his downfall. His body does not recover like it did back in the day and he can't take the same kind of punishment. But Favre does not want to hear that and he will play through pain. So much so that he will put his team in harm's way before making the right decision to sit out a game and end his streak.

5) Ben Roethlisberger Will Make Steelers' Fans Forget the Off Season

The reduction of Big Ben's suspension from six games to four games is going to turn out to be a big deal. It will give the Steelers two more games to capture a chance at a playoff spot. Something that was not going to happened without him. Whether you like him or not, you have to admit Roethlisberger is one of the better quarterbacks in the league. Not only does he know how to manage a game, he can actually hurt you with his arm.
