Cheap Halloween costumes for kids aren't as hard to find as you might think. You can create a wide variety of budget Halloween costumes using items you may already have in your home. Here are five inexpensive Halloween costumes for kids that may not even cost you a penny.

Cheap Halloween Costumes for Kids #1

A creative child may enjoy a jelly bean Halloween costume. You can dress your child like a bag of jelly beans using a clear trash bag or see-thru mesh bag and some balloons. Cut out four holes in the clear garbage bag or see-thru mesh bag - one for each arm and leg. Blow up multi-colored balloons. Have your child dress in tight all black clothing. Have them step in to the clear bag and fill the bag with balloons. Tie the top of the bag shut with a ribbon. Take care not to make the top too tight or else your child may not be very comfortable.

Budget Halloween Costumes for Kids #2

A free zombie costume is easy to create this Halloween. Simply take a pair of your child's pants that are getting too short and cut the legs in jagged edges. Take a plain white shirt (your child probably has shirts that are stained anyways) and cut holes in them. Purchase some and white face paint and smudge it on your child's face. Brown silly string can be used for added zombie effect.

Inexpensive Halloween Costumes for Kids #3

Use an Old easter dress to create a Bride of Frankenstein budget Halloween costume. Wear a white or pastel colored dress with a long black wig. Paint your child's face white and draw on thick eyebrows using black face paint. Bright red lips and press on nails complete the look. Consider wearing bright colored tights with white or black fishnet stockings layered on top for added warmth and decoration.

Budget Halloween Costumes for Kids #4

A ghost is a standby budget Halloween costume. Perhaps you forgot about purchasing a Halloween costume or maybe you just don't have the money to spend on Halloween costumes. Whatever the reason, you can re-purpose a white sheet to create a ghost costume. All you need for this budget Halloween costume is a white sheet and some scissors. Drape the sheet over your child, then cut out holes for their eyes, mouth, and arms. Cut the sheet to the appropriate length so that your child will not trip while trick-or-treating. Although this budget Halloween costume is simple, many children will be so excited about trick-or-treating that they won't think anything of a simple costume.

Cheap Halloween Costumes for Kids #5

A great budget Halloween costume for kids is a rabbit. Have your child dress in all pink or white and purchase rabbit ears. Paint your child's face white then draw on whiskers and a nose using black face paint. Hot glue a large white pom pom on the seat of your child's pants for the bunny tail. Consider letting your child carry their Easter basket to carry their trick-or treating loot.

If you have a limited budget this Halloween, you can still have a great time creating a costume for your children. A little creativity and items that you already have in your home will go a long way.
