Five Cheap Romantic Dates

Sabrina Ricci
Looking for something to do with your significant other but limited by your funds? Here's a list of five cheap, yet romantic dates:

1. Picnic. Picnics are always fun! The most you need to spend is money on making sandwiches, or if you want to get fancy, maybe some pie for dessert. And the best part about picnics is that you can go anywhere, at anytime. You can have a quick lunch at the part, or a nice, long, relaxing dinner at sunset on the beach. Cleanup is fairly easy too, since you can throw away your dishes and all you have left to worry about is a blanket and a basket. And, after you are done eating, you can spend some time cuddling and watching your surroundings.

2. Zoo. Zoos are great places to walk around and get to know each other. And most zoos are fairly inexpensive. For example, the Santa Barbara Zoo costs $11 per adult. You can easily spend an entire day at the zoo looking at all the animals, and going to the zoo makes for a great first date. Imagine holding hands while walking around the zoo, looking for the most interesting exhibits, and maybe laughing about past experiences at the zoo. Sounds like a good time!

3. Take a drive. Sometimes it is nice to spend some time driving without having a destination. You can see where the road takes you, and maybe stop somewhere with a view to watch the sunset, or if you live near mountains or lakes, try driving around and looking at all the scenery. You can also make periodic pit stops and take pictures of each other to document your journey.

4. Bake cookies. Baking or cooking in general can make for a romantic date, but I recommend making cookies together. You can take turns licking the spoon after mixing all the ingredients, and you have something nice to smell while you wait for the cookies to be done. This waiting period also gives you time to either get to know each other better, or to catch up on each other's day.

5. Watch movies. Plan on night in, and have a movie marathon. Pick three movies-maybe you pick one, your significant other picks one, and then you choose one together-and settle in bed or on the couch and cuddle the whole night. I recommend using Netflix, since they now have thousands of movies to choose from that you can watch online. This means you can watch movies on your laptop, and since you can use your laptop anywhere in the house, then you can pick the coziest spot for your movie night.
