The Creature from the Black Lagoon
Without a doubt, the Creature from the Black Lagoon is due for an update. When you watch the old movie, the Creature is almost a bit funny. What is interesting, however, is the obvious potential for a solid and entertaining remake. Something about the idea of an unknown creature being discovered in the Amazon is spooky and with today's special effects it could be awesome. This one has been talked about for years but not made it there yet.
Rodan
A giant bird that can tear us apart would be interesting for any horror movie, so Rodan is a natural. With some tweaking of the story and some big time special effects, this movie could rival any horror movie out there. Made in the classic Godzilla style, it is simply a giant fake bird. Rodan is certainly not scary in the old format, but could be if they took the time to redo it well.
The Mummy
While technically The Mummy has been redone in recent years, it has never been officially redone to mimic the old story. The Mummy could be incredible if they redid it and did not muck with the story. Something about a dead relic that is wrapped in strips of linen is terrifying to a great many movie watchers, so do not fix what is not broke. To many, the classic Mummy is infinitely more spooky than the modern Mummy that Brendan Fraser does battle with.
The Invisible Man
What makes The Invisible Man so interesting as a horror movie remake is that the story could be done in a million ways. Whether the Invisible Man is malevolent or not, it would make for a spooky movie. Today's graphics (think Glimmer Man) could truly do a wonderful job of bringing the Invisible Man to life once again.
Bride of Frankenstein
This I can see as a modern day horror-comedy and it would be a huge hit with the right stars in place. I would love to see a Mel Brooks type of modern day remake of Bride of Frankenstein. Plenty of monsters can scare us, but there are precious few that can scare us and make us laugh while doing it.
What classic movie monsters would you like to see brought back to The Silver Screen?

Post a CommentWhat a phony. You write all these blogs and have a comment button except for the one you wrote today about Sarah Palin. YOu knew that you would be bombarded with emails and comments and it scared you into leaving the comment button off your post. No courage, no class, and you must be a leftwingnut
I agree a remake of the original Mummy movie would be great and don't mess with the story.

remember Mothra? And there was a 1974 version of Frankenstein that scared me senseless.
ETA: Not the Brendan Frasier variety, either! LOL!
I would love to see a new Mummy movie!
I'm not sure about all of them but definitely agree with Bride of Frankenstein lol
Good picks.
These are good picks. Anything but a new Halloween or Nightmare on Elm Street is good with me. If you like horror movies you should watch Wolf Creek, Rest Stop or Farmhouse.
LOL! I love all of these! Fun article to read - thank you.
