One of my favorite producers is Chateau Sainte Roseline, which produces a wide variety of red, white and rose wine. The winery provides tours and tastings which are available in English if you choose. This is a relief to many tourists who find the wine trail to be impenetrable in some parts of France due to a language barrier. Here are five wines to try from Chateau Sainte Roseline.
Chateau Sainte Roseline Cotes de Provence cru classe white Cuvee Prieure
This wine has a textured, woody taste a counter balance to smoked fish and seafood.
The Chateau Sainte Roseline Prieure Rose
This wine is aromatic with scents of vanilla, cinnamon and fruit. It goes especially well with Asian dinners.
The Perle de Roseline
This wine is a ruby red color with a rich taste - a great accompaniment to grilled meats, cheeses and rich chocolate desserts.
The Chateau des demoiselles aoc cotes de Provence
This wine has a salmon pink color and a slight apricot scent and taste. The distinctive bottle and color, as well as the taste makes it perfect for a summer barbecue with grilled seafood.
Charme des demoiselles aoc cotes de Provence
This full bodied wine goes beautifully with red meats.
Besides the winery, there are several historical sites at Chateau Sainte Roseline. The settlement dates back to the tenth century. The cloister and chapel has housed the body of Saint Roseline since 1329 and to this day it draws pilgrims from all over the world. There Chateau Saint Roseline has an informative website which includes French and English versions. It has information about visiting the winery, chapel and other sites. You can even order wine online. Please see the link at the end of this article to find out more about this Cotes de Provence winery.
For information on other wineries in Cotes de Provence, see the second link at the end of this article. As one of France's most productive wine making regions, Cotes de Provence has no shortage of wineries. For instance Chateau de Rouet produces a range of wines, including a lovely Severac, which goes well with the rich taste of marinated meats and strong cheeses.
