Five Creepy Movie Children

J. Darling
There is something very disturbing about a movie containing evil or creepy children. That could be due to the fact that children represent innocence and when we see children depicted as possessed by Satan, committing acts of violence, or turning against their parents it turns our view of the world order upside down. This unsettling theme has been prevalent in many horror films over the years, giving creepy children their own place in film history. Looking for sugar, spice, and everything nice? You won't see any of that on this list of scary children in movies.

Regan MacNeil, The Exorcist (1973)

Linda Blair stars in this horror classic as a 12-year old girl who becomes possessed by a demon. As a young priest battles the demon for Regan's soul, her body and character transform into something evil. Viewers witness projectile vomiting, bizarre sexual innuendo involving a crucifix, humanly impossible head-spinning, and a cry for help from inside carved on her stomach are a few of the things that land Regan on this list.

Damien Thorn, The Omen (1976)

If a priest ever offers you a child, you should probably run, as Ambassador Robert Thorn learns the hard way. Sure, little Damien looks like a nice young boy, but after a few gruesome deaths it's discovered that Damien's real father is Satan and he's not going down without a fight. One of the most chilling death scenes in this film is his nanny's suicide at a birthday party.

Gage Creed, Pet Sematary (1989)

The Creed family's new home is located near a Native American burial ground that no one seems to want to talk about, until daughter Ellie's cat is killed. It's then that the father, Louis, learns from the neighbor, Judd that things buried in the old cemetery come back to life. The cat is born again, but something isn't right about its behavior. Tragedy strikes the family again when young and adorable Gage Creed is killed by a truck. Grief-stricken, Louis buries his child in the sacred soil and he comes back with murderous and evil intentions.

David, Village of the Damned (1960)

This black and white sci-fi classic takes place in Midwich, where one day everyone goes unconscious for awhile. Something strange happened during those lost hours, as every woman who is old enough to bear children turns up pregnant at the same time. All the children are born on the same day and all have very fair skin, blond hair, and mature at an alarming rate. They're cold, travel in groups, and all have telepathic and telekinetic powers. This film has not only one, but a whole village full of creepy kids.

The Grady Twins, The Shining (1980)

These ghostly twins, who were the daughters of the Overlook Hotel's former caretaker, foreshadow what is about to happen over the long, cold winter to the Torrance family. They're cute enough in matching frilly blue dresses and aren't on the screen much, but they leave viewers chilled when flashes of them appear covered in blood after being butchered by their father.
