The "Bolero"
The Bolero jacket is long-sleeved and exaggeratedly short. This type of jacket, also known as a shrug, appears to barely hang on the shoulders. Nonetheless, this "shawl-like" garment is magnificent for layered looks. And depending upon the texture and detail-can be worn for very formal events. Pair them with mini-dresses, solid tights and tall boots for a "utilitarian" look.
Cropped Fur (or Faux Fur) Jackets
If you really want to get noticed, you'll pair a furry, cropped jacket with a floor-length dress or even a pencil skirt. The effect has a vintage appeal. And depending upon the color and texture of the material, the result can be incredibly luxurious. Scruffy-looking faux fur is also a great alternative if you're dressing down a look with distressed skinny jeans, and a sexy top for a casual evening outfit.
Black Leather Cropped Jacket
Play it safe with a simple, black leather cropped jacket. These items will more than likely be in style for many seasons, as they are the most "neutral." The motorcycle cropped look may seem a bit daring. But you'd be surprised at how easily this style can be pared down to suit simple tastes. In any case, adding black cropped leather to your wardrobe will add a little panache to some otherwise "boring" ensembles.
Metallic Cropped Styles
If you're concerned about looking like you've wrapped your upper half in aluminum foil, worry no more. Today's metallic cropped jackets have taken into consideration the woman's natural curves. Throw your sedate casual wear completely off kilter by wearing a cropped silver bomber jacket. The beauty of silver is that it compliments so many different pieces: distressed skinny jeans, the "little black dress", T-shirts...the list is practically endless.
Military-style Cropped Jacket
It may be hard to believe; tightly embellished military cropped jackets are a clever way to inject some feminine sex appeal into your look. This is because despite the "strong" shoulder and austere columns of buttons, the cropped aspect provides an immediate contrast by contouring the waist and elongating the legs. Because of their stiff appeal, they look exceptionally good with mini skirts, long tees, leggings, and especially over-the-knee boots. In general the military-style cropped jacket provides the necessary offset for sexy items of clothing. But if you're feeling a bit apprehensive about wearing such a bold style, keep the rest of your ensemble simple, and add more daring pieces eventually-one at a time.
