Five DC Comics Characters Who Should Have Their Own Movies

J. Gordon
The DC Comics Universe is best known for its characters Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. There are thousands of characters in the DC library that would translate well to film. Here are five candidates for future summer blockbusters.

Adam Strange.

This is a John Carter on Mars concept with a superhero slant. Adam Strange is transported to Rann via a Zeta Beam. There, he becomes involved in wars against invaders who wish to take over Rann. This concept would have to be reworked to not clearly resemble the Mars stories or those of Buck Rogers, but it's still got enough visual crackle to stand out on its own.

Kamandi.

Kamandi is the last boy on Earth. This is a post-apocalyptic tale created by Jack "The King" Kirby in the 70s. Kamandi is just trying to make his way in a world inhabited by bulked up versions of Dr. Moreau's experiments. Were-animal wars are being fought around the ruins of our once-great civilization while shirtless, long-haired, cut-off jeans wearing Kamandi just tries to stay alive.

Warlord.

Travis Morgan was a pilot who flew through a hole in the Earth's crust and entered the world of Skartaris. This is a world of sword and sorcery with a military minded hero battling the villains that inhabit this world. Fantasy movies need a shot in the arm, and Warlord could bring a new type of action to the genre.

Metal Men.

Scientist Doc Magus creates six robots made from different alloys. There's Gold, Lead, Iron, Platinum, Mercury and Tin. They're all very life-like and all have their own personalities - but when there's trouble, they form the greatest robotic superteam ever known.

Challengers of the Unknown.

After surviving an airplane crash, four adventurers - Ace, Red, Rocky and Prof -believe they are living on "borrowed time". They vow to explore the unknown and volunteer for the world's most risky adventures. It's a very simple concept and the success of a film would hinge on the charismatic actors playing the four male leads.

These are only five of DC's many properties. Each would make an exciting film franchise.
