Five Easy Meals You Can Make in a Crock Pot
Feed the Family Monday Through Friday with Hardly Any Effort
Chicken Tostadas
Chicken slow cooked to perfection in a crock pot gives the meat a soft and tender texture perfect for tostadas. For this meal you will need tostadas, sour cream, salsa, shredded cheese, pre- cut bagged shredded lettuce, canned beans, chicken broth, and chicken. Simply fill the crock pot about half way full with chicken broth and let the breasts cook on high for about 4-5 hours. When the chicken breasts are done cooking shred them and quickly heat up your beans on the stove top or microwave. Assemble your tostadas and enjoy. The only work done here is shredding the chicken, heating up the beans, and assembly. Pretty easy.
French Dip Sandwiches
French dip sandwiches are savory, filling, and delicious. When cooking a roast in the crock pot prepare for your home to smell of meaty goodness. For this meal you will need a boneless chuckroast, 1 lipton onion soup packet, three cans beef broth, and french bread. Pour broth into the crock pot, sprinkle in the onion soup mix, and drop the roast in for about 6-7 hours on high. When the meat is done simply shred it with a fork and pick out the fatty parts. Assemble the sandwich, and ladel some of the broth you cooked the meat in, into a small bowl. Dip, eat, and repeat.
Corned Beef, Potatoes, and Cabbage.
Corned beef comes out fantastic when its done in a crock pot. This meal requires potatoes, carrots, cabbage, and a big slab of corned beef that comes with the seasoning packet included. Place the potatoes at the bottom of the crock pot, put the beef on top, and slide in the carrots into the crevices and fill the pot about 3/4 of the way full with water. Set the crock pot to high and let cook about 7-9 hours. About an hour before the beef is done quarter the cabbage and place it on top and let the cooking process finish. A complete meal with your veggies, starch, and protein all courtesy of the crock pot.
Mexican Shredded Beef Tacos
Mexican shredded beef tacos are super simple to make when you have your handy crock pot. To create this meal you will need a boneless beef chuck roast, a small can of green chiles, three cans of beef broth, salsa, crumbled Mexican cheese, sour cream, and corn of flour tortillas. Let the meat cook for about 6-7 hours on high inside of the crock pot. Shred beef with a fork and saute in a pan with the green chile, here you can add additional salt and pepper and even some chili powder.
Corned Beef Sandwiches with Sauerkraut and Pickles
Corned beef is a great meat for sandwiches. To enjoy this meal you will need corned beef with the seasoning packet, sourdough or french bread slices, pickles, mustard, and sauerkraut. Drop the meat into the crock pot with the seasonings and pour in about six to eight cups of water. Cook on high for 7-9 hours. Slice the meat to your preference and assemble your sandwich.
