Five Eco-friendly Inexpensive Gifts for Your Special Someone

Ruth Carter
Although Valentine's Day has come and gone, any day of the year is a wonderful time to show your love for that special someone in your life. Giving gifts to your sweetheart does not have to cost a fortune, and you can also select fantastic presents that will be friendly to the environment as well. Consider these five suggestions for passionate offerings for your loved one:

Make a recycled paper card that includes "special coupons".

Use your imagination and create a card made from recycled paper to let your significant other know how much you care. For fun, you can include some specialized "coupons" for such things as relief from household chores, romantic homemade dinners, kisses, or any other activity of your choice.

Plant two trees in honor of your love.

Go to a local nursery, find two trees of your favorite species, and plant them in a special place that is memorable for you and your loved one. As the trees go, hopefully, so will the love that you share with your special someone.

Make a delicious dessert from organic ingredients.

Whether your sweetheart is a fan of chocolate-dipped strawberries or strawberry cheesecake, you can find a recipe for making these delectable dishes online or in your favorite cookbook. When selecting ingredients for that yummy dessert, you can choose organic alternatives rather than conventional ones.

Purchase a jewelry selection from a local eco-friendly artisan or an Etsy artist.

If your special person is a jewelry lover, you can support your local economy by making a purchase from a local eco-friendly artist. However, if you live in a community where there are no local artisans, you can visit the Etsy website and select from a host of gorgeous creations by several eco-friendly artists.

Concoct a homemade sea salt scrub or body oil scented with your sweetie's favorite essential oil.

Your loved one will enjoy using a scented sea salt scrub or body oil that is made by you. To make a delightful sea salt scrub, you take 1 cup of sea salt, ½ cup of grapeseed oil, and 7-10 drops of your sweetheart's favorite essential oil (this author purchases her essential oils from Young Living ), mix them together in an airtight container (i.e. a small Mason jar), and tie a decorative ribbon around the jar for a lovely accent. To produce wonderful body oil, you simply mix a cup of grapeseed or olive oil with 10 drops of your loved one's favorite essential oil in an airtight container.

When you want to do something special for the love of your life, you may want to consider one of these five suggestions. You will make your sweetheart feel special while being friendly to your environment as well.
