Five Fab Ways to Thank Your Favorite Teacher Before You Graduate from High School

Suggestions for Seniors

As your high school graduation rapidly approaches, you probably have more activities and events scheduled than you can keep up with. If you have a teacher who has impacted your high school career in a major way, don't let the school year end without thanking him or her for a job well done. There are several "fab" ways to thank your favorite teacher for making such a huge difference in your life. The following are a few suggestions.

1. Do something nice for your favorite teacher every day during Teacher Appreciation Week. Teacher Appreciation Week typically falls during the first week of May and is an ideal time for doing those little things that can mean so much to your favorite teacher. One such example would be to select (or write) five teacher quotes and give your favorite teacher a different quote every day of the week! You can write each quote on a decorative note card. For a classy finishing touch, present your last note card to your teacher along with a decorative note card holder! The following are a few websites that contain teacher quotes: The Quote Garden, Teaching Heart, Teacher Appreciation Info, and Think Exist.

2. Customize a word puzzle that will amuse your favorite teacher. Does your teacher seem like the type who might enjoy word puzzles? If so, why not surprise him or her with a personalized crossword or word search puzzle? Think of some words that pertain to your class, your school, or interesting facts you have learned about your teacher and include them in your puzzle! Discovery Education, Armored Penguin and edHelper are among the best sites for generating original word puzzles for your teacher.

3. Give your favorite teacher an autograph book with thank you notes from you and your classmates. Do you have a teacher that is so popular the majority of students in your senior class adore him or her? An autograph book with personal, handwritten thank you notes may be the perfect gift! This small keepsake has much sentimental value and is something that your teacher will most likely treasure for years to come. Although there are plenty of websites from which you can order an autograph book, a blank journal can serve the same purpose and can be purchased at your local bookstore or retail chain.

4. Give your favorite teacher a customized newspaper with their own personal headline! If you are an extremely creative student who is good with words, consider ordering a custom-designed newspaper for your teacher with a personalized headline! This is a unique gift that can be framed and hung on your teacher's office wall for display. It is sure to provide a heartwarming pick me up on those difficult days when nothing seems to be going well. Personal Headlines.com is a website that offers a variety of customized newspaper and headline options.

5. Award your favorite teacher with a certificate of appreciation. Many teachers are used to giving award certificates to their students, but how many are used to receiving them from their students? Dare to be different by being the student who officially rewards teaching excellence with an award certificate that will be cherished by your favorite teacher forever. For a quick, free, user friendly certificate making experience that will result in eye-catching results, an excellent site to visit is 123 Certificates.com.

As an education professional (working with college student affairs), I look forward to reading more of your work!

These are such kind suggestions. It wasn't customary to give teachers gifts in the UK when I was in school. But things have changed in just a few short years.

I like the idea of an autograph book with notes from the students - if something handwritten is really heartfelt, that's so much nicer of a gift than any trinkets.

Great ideas! I wish I had thanked more teachers...but when young who thinks of polite stuff like that?
