Amelie
This is a well-known "classic" french film starring Audrey Tautou. It's not classic in the sense that it's old, it's classic in the sense that it's widely known and loved. It's about a french girl in Paris, who goes around trying to help people that she knows, but unexpectedly finds love along the way. It's very cute and quirky- a must-see!
Love Me, if You Dare
Marion Cotillard stars in this a beautiful movie about two children who live troubled lives at home. To escape from their mundane existences they begin a game of truth or dare which continues through their adolescence into their adulthood. As they grow older, the dares become more intense until they're risking their lives to complete the assigned task. It's a love story filled with excitement and intrigue.
Priceless
This is the second film that features Audrey Tautou. It is about a woman staying in a hotel who dates rich men, so they can pay for her extravagant lifestyle. A man working at the hotel decides that he will try to get her, so he pretends to have money in order to woo her. They spend a night together, but then the illusion is shattered when the woman finds out he has no money and he finds out she has no money. So the man decides to beat her at her own game. It's a very cute story that's reminiscent of Breakfast at Tiffany's.
Happenstance
This film is a story about how one small event can determine huge life-changing occurrences. When a young french lady (Audrey Tautou again) boards a train one day, a woman tells her that the full moon will unite her with her soul mate. The rest of the movie shows how subtle events can have a butterfly effect and alter many peoples lives forever. It's a sweet movie with a happy message.
Angel-A
This is an interesting love story. It begins with a man, down on his luck and feeling inconsolable. He decides to commit suicide by jumping off a bridge in Paris, but right before he does it he sees a beautiful blond woman who has apparently decided on the same fate. In a moment, she jumps and he jumps in to rescue her. The rest of the movie is about her helping him to correct the problems of his life, but there comes a time when she will have to choose between staying with him or returning to where she came.
