First, a bride wearing her mother's wedding dress on her wedding day can be a sentimental affair. The bride's mother would be honored and happy to see her daughter wearing the same dress that she herself wore so many years ago. If it is the case that the mother of the bride has passed away prior to the wedding, the wearing of her wedding dress by her daughter would have special significance to all of the family members that are present.
Second, a bride wearing her mother's wedding dress on her wedding day is economical. Wedding dresses can range in price from hundreds to thousands of dollars, and if a bride chooses to wear her mother's wedding dress and only pay to have needed alterations made, she can save the money that she would have been spent on buying a new dress and use it for something else that would be needed for either the wedding, the honeymoon, or the first year of marriage. With the economy presently being in a slump, the idea of saving money by a bride wearing her mother's wedding dress sounds pretty good.
Third, if a bride decides to wear her mother's wedding dress for her wedding day, she will not have to take the time to pick out a dress and will have more time available for planning the wedding and getting things together. The time that would be saved by this decision could range in length from hours to even weeks.
Fourth, a bride wearing her mother's wedding dress on her wedding day is eco-friendly. By reusing her mother's wedding dress, the bride is helping to keep the dress out of the landfill and is saving the energy and materials that it would take for another dress to be made.
Lastly, if a bride wears her mother's wedding dress on her wedding day, she will be sporting attire that is unique and vintage. Because wedding dress styles of today differ somewhat from those of a bride's mother's time, the bride adorned in her mother's bridal gown will be the crowning jewel of an age since past.
When a bride is considering whether or not to wear her mother's wedding dress for her wedding day, she may want to consider these reasons to say "yes." Ultimately though, she will have to choose which decision is best for her own unique situation.
