John 3:16 (NIV)
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life".
It encourages me to know that God loved me so much to send Jesus, His Son for my sins. And because of this I have life for all eternity in heaven when I die. I personalize this verse. Even though He died for the world, He also died personally and specifically for me. What a hope I find in this promise.
Psalms 34:18 (NIV)
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."
When my mother died, my heart was broken and my spirit crushed. It's at these times that I feel His gentle touch of love and comfort.
Colossians 3:23-24(NIV)
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, (24) since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving".
When I was employed, I would remind myself and my employer that I did my job as unto the Lord. You can only imagine the looks I received. Ultimately I realize that anything that I do, should be done for the glory of God. That principal is something I try to apply to all areas of my life including my service at church.
Psalms 118:24 (NIV)
"This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it."
Every day that He gives me breath in my body I am so grateful for. I am always reminded that so many people didn't wake up to see another day.
Mark 9:23 (NIV)
"If you can?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who believes".
I've often thought the Lord has a sense of humor. Jesus used these words in responding to a father who had some concerns about his son's health. He apparently forgot that God can do anything. There's nothing impossible to Him. Yes!!!!!

Thank you for this - very inspiring.
What an inspirational article!
I like that "this is the Day that the Lord Has Made." One of my favorites is Psalm 118:8. It is better to trust in God than to put confidence in man. Great job Lee.
So inspiring, well done : )
