Five Free Job Websites that Make Finding a New Job Online Easy

Find a New Job Online

Armando Roggio
The Internet has long since replaced your local newspaper's classified ads as the best way to find a new job or advance your career, but not all job sites are equal and some charge significant fees.

In this quick review, I'll tell you about five free job websites that will make your job search a snap.

CareerBuilder

As a company, CareerBuilder is jointly owned by three newspaper companies-Gannett Company, Inc., the Tribune Company, and The McClatchy Company-and the Microsoft Corporation. So that the site benefits from those newspaper's own classified programs and Microsoft's technical expertise. Add to this more than 1,000 job posting partners, and the CareerBuilder job website is easy to navigate and has more than 1.5 million job listings from about 300,000 employers. Today, CareerBuilder is the largest online job searching site.

Monster

Monster is a global job website that lets you search for a new career almost anywhere in the world. The company has roots that pre-date the popular rise of the Internet, and the site's founders draw on that experience to offer excellent articles and web casts designed to help you get a job.

USAJOBS

The official job website for the United States Federal Government, USAJOBS has the best listing of stable government job openings and career opportunities that I've found anywhere on the web. And searching for a job at USAJOBS is as simple has searching on Google. The site also lets you develop a profile, add a resume, and register for job alerts. There is even a tool to match your personal interests with government positions.

ChristianJobs.com

For the faithful, ChristainJobs.com offers a free search of positions with like-minded employers. These are not church jobs, but regular career positions in fields like marketing, sales, or engineering that are at companies that appreciate and respect Christian values. While this site has far fewer jobs listed than say CareerBuilder or Monster, it often features openings that are not listed elsewhere.

Hound

Hound takes the middle man out of job searching. With most job websites, employers submit listings, but Hound doesn't require that. Rather it goes out to employer's own websites and collects job openings in the same way that Google or other search engines find page data. As a result Hound provides some of the best job search results of any site on the web.
