Five Free Valentine's Dates

Make Love Not Debt!

Valentine's Day is approaching, and I say make love not debt. Do you need some ideas to make your day special without breaking the bank (or piggy bank)? Well, here you go. These are five of my favorite ways to spend romantic time together that are low cost or free.

Free Valentine's Dates: The Romantic Dinner

Nothing says "I love you" like a home cooked meal. Cook something light and romantic, like seafood and pasta, and light lots of candles. Send your kids to the babysitter, or make it a family affair. Set up your table outside if the weather is nice, or on a patio. Decorate the table with candy hearts, sprinkled flower petals, or herbs. Your valentine will appreciate the effort and the food.

Free Valentine's Dates: The Picnic

One of my favorite Valentine's dates was when my husband picked me up for lunch dressed in a suit and tie, with a picnic basket in hand. I don't remember what we ate, and I'm sure it doesn't matter. We took the picnic to a park overlooking the ocean and drank a bottle of champagne. It was very romantic!

Free Valentine's Dates: The Romantic Walk

Take a romantic walk somewhere beautiful. It can be the beach, mountains, a forested area. Take a picnic blanket so you can lay back and talk and share some quiet time together. Watch the sunset...or sunrise!

Free Valentine's Dates: Movie Night

For busy couples, a quiet night at home may be in order. Have one person pick up take out and the other pick up movies. Send the kids away, and spend the entire night together. Make it a naked movie night for even more fun. Spend the evening in your underwear or less!

Free Valentine's Dates: Romantic Bubble Bath for Two

Light candles all over your house, draw a bubble bath, and relax. Share a bottle of wine or champagne if you are in the mood. A candlelit bubble bath is very romantic and relaxing. Not to mention that everyone looks great by candlelight!

These five free Valentine's dates should help you to create a romantic date on a budget. Just remember to relax, and enjoy some quiet time with your partner. Valentine's Day is about love after all, not cash.
