Five Fun and Cheap Summer Sundress Options for Under $50

Ashley Mott
Summer is the perfect time to break out a cute sundress and indulge in the feeling of a warm breeze on your shoulders, arms and legs. The great feature of a sundress is that it is flattering to a wide variety of figure types including the hourglass and pear shape. The sundress accentuates the curves of the hour glass while balancing out the bottom-heavy aspect of the pear in most cases. The five sundresses in this article are all fun and flattering!

Sangria High Waist Lace Trimmed Sleeveless Dress

Sears.com carries the Sangria High Waist Lace Trimmed Dress at a reasonable price of $50.99. While this can be considered a higher price for a casual dress, the Sangria dress is casual with a classy twist. The color is a charming shade of green a few hues darker than Kermit with accents as part of the skirt pattern and following the bodice seam. Perfect for a day when comfort is key but looking nice is a must!

The American Living Sundress in a Black/White Floral Print

The JCPenney line American Living has a highly sophisticated sundress as well at a $49.99 price point. The dress has a bit more structure than most sundresses while still holding true to the flare past the bodice. The black and white patterns makes this the perfect dressy sundress for church or a nice daytime date.

Victoria's Secret Strapless Smocked Dress

Victoria's Secret carries an ultra-casual strapless smocked dress for only $19.99, and the dress is available in a wide variety of color and pattern choices. This dress has a smocked bust-line coupled with an empire waist that flares immediately for ultimate comfort and seemingly effortless dressing.

Rockabilly Plaid Halter Dress

The Rockabilly Plaid Halter Dress is available on Amazon.com for a $34.99 price-tag. This dress has a casual plaid print that would rival any man's favorite work-shirt. The dress maintains a distinct feminine edge through a sculpted and accented bust-line coupled with four ruffle detailing at the hem. The skirt is not as flared as many sundresses, but the slightly more snug fit suits the casual print.

Knot Strap Apron Pocket Floral Sundress-Cream

The Knot Strap Apron Pocket Floral Sundress sold through JCPenney is perfect for the woman who wants a cute sundress while still wearing a functioning garment. The dress features two front pockets (concealed well within the floral pattern at first glance) that are perfect for holding car keys and other small items when carrying a purse seems too restrictive. At $29.99, this dress is a cute bargain whether you want to wear it around the house or too a summer barbecue!

These five sundresses are all $51.00 and less and provide a lot of fashion bang for their buck!

The VS smocked dress is incredibly unflattering on anyone with a defined waist who isn't going for that pregnant whale look. I need a sun dress that flares from the waist, not the bust, since I'm trying to show off my hourglass figure, not transform it into Mr. Potato Head.
