1. Winter wonderland: To make your tree sparkle like the first snow, use blues, whites, and silvers. You can use your usual silver garland. Purchase plain white lights or find somewhere like Wal-Mart to purchase blue and white snowflake-shaped LED Christmas lights (these will also help you save energy.) If you do happen to go with the plain white lights, purchase snowflake ornaments. If you get the snowflake lights, then for ornaments, buy blue and silver bells. You can use an angel on top still, but if you want to complete the winter look, use a snowflake topper instead.
2. Sweet Treats: For this theme, go ahead and use multi-colored lights. Again, LED lights are energy-efficient. For this theme, your ornaments should include: candy canes (I would put real ones on there,) gingerbread men, ribbon candy, and Christmas cookies (all faux, of course.) If you can, try to find a tree topper like a gingerbread man.
3. Holly, Bells, and Doves: I think holly and bells go together well. For this to look really pretty my opinion is it use white lights. For your ornaments, find ones that have holly leaves and berries, pairs of bells (I don't like gold very much--I'd use silver,) and for a really nice touch, add in pretty white doves, or turtledoves. This makes for a pretty and peaceful-themed Christmas tree.
4. Sports: For the manly man's tree, why not deck out the tree with your favorite sports teams? Start with lights in any color, or a specific color, if it represents your team. Then, almost anywhere on the web, like Amazon or Target, you can find balls and other ornaments with your team's logo on it. For an sweet addition, you can find sports team candy canes at places like Target.
5. Girly: For the girly girl Christmas tree, pink is the key. There's a variety of pink Christmas ornaments at Amazon. Then, instead of regular garland, why not use pink feather boas? As for lights, pink would be a little much, so, use white instead.
These are just a few ideas to get you brainstorming. Feel free to be creative and come up with your own ideas, for a fun, different, and festive Christmas tree this holiday season.
