What can we get them to show them our appreciation and that will not break the bank... because after all we are financially responsible for fully vetting each cat we bring into our rescue (that adds up!!!).
Five gifts to present to foster families of cat rescues and shelters- picture perfect
I love Hobby Lobby! I mean I love that store. I love the sales! Last year when all the ornaments were priced to go... some were at 80% off!!!!... I purchased all of the small silver cat face picture frame ornaments. This year, I will place a picture of each cat the family fostered in a frame. It is a good thing, I went to all five Hobby Lobbys in my area-as some of our fosters homes, fostered upwards of twelve kitties in the past year alone.
Five gifts to present to foster families of cat rescues and shelters- a stitch in time
My sister can cross-stitch. I mean she is a wiz and a pro. Thankfully, she is my sister and loves me... I asked her one year to cross-stitch ten Persian cats with the saying I help save precious lives on a cross- stitch sampler. She did and they looked amazing. She did, however, state that it would be several years before she undertook that personal request again. (I think I should just not wait until the first of December to ask... maybe January first would be better.)
Five gifts to present to foster families of cat rescues and shelters- food for thought
Our foster families are wonderful (really, I cannot mention that enough!) We provide all vetting costs for each cat, but once they are in foster care, the family supplies all the food and litter. That can add up over time... especially as we only feed premium grade cat food for our cats. We bought each of our foster families an extra bag of food as well as a coupon for a free smaller bag. (We wrote to the company and asked for the coupons!)
Five gifts to present to foster families of cat rescues and shelters- stand up and stretch
Several years ago, we decided we could build our own cat trees. It would be so much cheaper, we thought. What were we thinking? Oh... right, to save money. Well, it worked. So one year when we had the least number of foster families... we made each one a cat tree. Talk about a great gift to show our appreciation. Or you can just purchase a small one... a very small one-the thought it still there; the sentiment is still be presented.
Five gifts to present to foster families of cat rescues and shelters- Hugs and kisses
Who can ever turn down chocolate? We found inexpensive but pretty bowls with a Persian face painted on it and filled it with several different kinds of Hershey's candies. The families were thrilled and they were able to use the bowl as they saw fit... most used it as a cat food dish.
Not a great amount of time or money needs to go into the gift. Basically you just want to thank them for taking the kitties into their home. The more they foster, the more lives are saved. Let them know you know what they do matters. Being a animal foster parent makes a difference!
