Five Good Reasons to Watch "Glee"

The show "Glee," which currently airs on Fox, is one of the most popular television series currently on the air. With its winning combination of an ensemble cast, fantastic musical numbers, and lovable characters, this a show that is sure to remain on the air for several years to come. Just in case you aren't convinced of the good reasons to watch it, however, here are five of the best features of this fantastic show on Fox.

The Characters
Without a doubt, one of the strongest features of this series are the characters, all of whom get their own storyline at one point or another during the season. Although they are in high school (and sometimes act somewhat immature for most adults), you can't help but feel for them as they find their way through the trauma that is the American high school experience.

The Music
No episode of "Glee" would be complete without the excellent musical numbers. Even those who aren't necessarily a fan of the musical as a genre cannot help but feel the power and energy in the music scores for each episode. From the powerful songs of Journey to the softer tones of Elton John to the antics of "Rocky Horror," the show has taken on a bit of everything, and shown us how wonderful and full of elation singing can be.

The Guest Stars
No Fox sitcom would be complete without the requisite big name guest stars, and "Glee" is no exception. Guest stars have ranged from the ruggedly handsome and wryly funny (such as recurring guest John Stamos) to the legendary (Carol Burnett recently had a stint on the show.) If you want to see some of the greats of television (and sometimes film) then be sure to tune in to the next week's episode of "Glee."

Sue Sylvester
Sure, I mentioned the characters before, but Sue Sylvester is such a power in and of herself that she deserves her own entry. Although often cruel and vindictive, Sue Sylvester is one of the most lovable villains that television has ever seen. Even the nastiest villain, however, has a trace of humanity, and the show does a great job of showing some of the struggles she has undertaken throughout her life.

The Stories
Although some might fault the plots of "Glee" for being too trite and cliched, the show actually does a good job of jerking the tears out, even when they're not necessarily trying. How can you not feel some sort of emotion when you see the young gay man Kurt bullied ruthlessly by the football players, or Rachel and Finn struggling with the hot mess that is adolescent love?

So there you have it, five good reasons to tune in to Fox's hit series "Glee." If you're still not convinced, then at least give it a try. I guarantee that you'll be glad you did.
