Shalimar
Shalimar is a great Indian restaurant located on Main Street, just couple blocks south of the intersection with Huron St. Shalimar has a great selection of different regional indian dishes. There's actually two Shalimar restaurants - there's also one located on Washington Street, just east of Main Street. However, the one located on Main Street is recommended for it's superior selection of Indian dishes - the Washington location takes a more "pan-asian" approach to its cuisine.
Creekside Grill and Bar
If Shalimar is a bit too exotic for your tastes, try Creekside Grill and Bar - located just outside Ann Arbor on Jackson Road (5827 Jackson Road.) Creekside features a good selection of quality "American" cuisine - such as steak, pastas, salads, prime rib, etc. And the nice thing is that parking is easy and abundant - which is always important in Ann Arbor, where parking is at a premium.
Ashley's
Ashley's, located near campus on State Street is more of a bar than a restaurant - but do have a truly glorious selection of beers on tap - great for any beer lover! With more than sixty beers on tap, it certainly has the best beer selection in Ann Arbor, if not the whole region. This is a popular bar with students, so during the academic year it can be quite crowded, especially on weekends.
Zingerman's
Zingerman's claims to be the best deli in the world - it certain has the best sandwiches in Ann Arbor! Zingerman's is located near down town in the Kerrytown area (422 Detroit Street.) They also have a large selection of gourmet cheese, meats, etc. This part of Ann Arbor can be a bit confusing, and parking can be difficult, so it may be a good idea to get some maps online before leaving!
Conor O' Neill's
Finally, Conor O' Neill's (318 South Main Street) is a distinctive Irish pub and restaurant located in downtown Ann Arbor. It claims to have been entirely shipped from Ireland - regardless it has the feel of a traditional Irish pub, as well as great food and live music.
So if you're new to Ann Arbor or planning on visiting, hopefully there's a restaurant in this list that appeals to you. Ann Arbor is a great city for trying all sorts of food, so there are many, many other restaurants that could have been on this list - but it's a great start! Check 'em out!

Post a CommentThat's amazing. I've lived in Ann Arbor for years, and I've never even heard of the Creekside Grill & Bar. I second the recommendations for Zingerman's and Conor O'Neill's. Both are great!
