Five Greatest Quarterbacks in Carolina Panther History

Having picked two young quarterbacks in Jimmy Clausen and Tony Pike in the 2010 NFL Draft, Carolina is clearly turning a new page in the team's history. Gone is the long time quarterback Jake Delhomme, along with several other long time veterans on the ball club. With the young guard taking over, it makes one think about the old. Here are the top five quarterbacks in Carolina Panther's history:

Jake Delhomme - Without a doubt, Delhomme is at the top of this list with a bullet. Not only did he lead the Panthers to their only Super Bowl and perform like a Super Bowl MVP, but he also holds virtually every Panther quarterback record there is. Delhomme is beloved in spite of the last season he spent as a Panther, and will bring a touch of class to the Browns in 2010.

Kerry Collins - There are a handful of sentimentalists that may put Collins above Delhomme but no way. He was the first Panther quarterback drafted and was the centerpiece of some of Carolina's first good teams, but he was not the leader and performer that Delhomme was. Still, he was good enough to be in second place on this list.

Steve Beuerline - Beuerline was one of those old guys that was at the end of their career, and he gave the Panthers a couple of good seasons. He was first class all the way, and you will never find a bad word said about the man. He was a leader, and he kept the Panther's competitive during some lean years. If you take him off the team during the years he played, the Panthers would have been several games worse every season.

Chris Weinke - After Beuerline, the list gets really thin. It is hard to imagine Weinke making the top five list of anything, but the guy was a gamer. He always competed and did his best. That was enough to slide him into third place on this list for now. The Panthers have not had many stellar quarterbacks, so for now he is firm at number four.

Matt Moore - The current quarterback is at number five if only for the fact that he has infused hope into a position that seemed dead. Moore has always performed at every opportunity with Carolina, and will be a huge success this season. After 2010, Moore may move up this list rapidly.

There were others I considered at the numbers four and five, but they all were simply either really bad with Carolina, or really bad with everyone. This list is based on playing time at Carolina alone.
