Five Greatest Sport Movies of All Time

Watching a good sports movie as a family can be a great way to spend an evening together. Make some popcorn and shut off the cell phones and pop one in the dvd player. Sport movies are great , because there's something for everyone. The men have the sports and the beautiful girlfriends. The girls have the love story. the action keeps the kids attention. Here are our top five picks.

1. Rocky is hands down our family's favorite. Rocky is a boxer who works in a meat packing plant and collects debts for a local loan shark on the side. He is offered one shot at proving himself by fighting the heavyweight champ Apollo Creed. It's a feel good story of the underdog making it big.

2. Brian's Song is perhaps the most memorable and emotional movie about the life of a football star. Based on the life of Brian Piccolo, his friendship with Gale Sayers and is battle with cancer. This movie demonstrates the support of his team mates, friends and family. This movie may bring tears to your eyes.

3. Miracle is an amazing true story of a hockey team that , indeed, does perform a miracle. Herb Brooks coaches a bunch of college kids to match up against a superb Soviet Union Team to battle for the world title in 1980.

4. Hoosiers is a fantastic basketball movie that takes place in a small Indiana town in the 1950's. The team's success is dependent on two morally deprived coaches. One is a former football who has turned into the town drunk. The other is a man who has questionable past. Together do they have what it takes to make this basketball team the champs?

5. Remember the Titans is also based on a true story. The forced integration of the schools also means the integration of the football team. The African-American coach is made head coach over the "white" coach and this
causes even more friction. Gradually, after many scuffles and remarks the players begin to accept and eventually like one another. The team's helps the community to also accept one another. This is a great movie and who hasn't gotten the chant stuck in the heads.

I would also like to add a list of five more movies that I believe deserve at least honorable mention: Bill Durham, A League of Their Own, Field of Dreams, Fever Pitch (we are Red Sox Fans), and Glory Road. I hope you enjoy these movies as much as we do. If you'd like to buy a copy check out these sites: dvdempire.com, amazon.com/dvd, and tower.com.
