Television plays a huge part in Halloween costume choices. Listed here are five Halloween costumes inspired by television shows.

Halloween Costumes Inspired by Television Shows - Glee
You'll see lots of adults and even children this Halloween donning the well known red track suit worn by Sue Sylvester. Sylvester, played by Jane Lynch, is the cantankerous coach of the "Cheerios" cheerleading squad on the hit Fox television show, Glee. The Sue Sylvester Halloween costume is a simple costume to find or create yourself. Red track suit, whistle and a cranky attitude.

Halloween Costumes Inspired by Television Shows - Jersey Shore
Believe it or not, costumes depicting the infamous reality television stars on Jersey Shore will be a huge hit this Halloween season. For females: think big hair, tons of caked-on makeup, and tight-fitting clothing with loud patterns. Don't forget the spray on tan to finish off the look. For guys: think graphic tees (Ed Hardy for example), jeans, tons of hair gel, and shades. Finish off the look with an over sized cross on a chain.

Halloween Costumes Inspired by Television Shows - Vampire Diaries and True Blood
With hit television shows like Vampire Diaries and True Blood, vampires are huge this Halloween season. To pull this look off is fairly easy. For a more traditional vampire look dress all in black, add a long cape, fanged teeth and some fake blood. For a more contemporary vampire costume, wear dark clothing typical of a twenty-something, and add in the fangs and fake blood. Another twist would be to wear a period piece similar to what the characters worn in the season finale of Vampire Diaries when they attended the Founder's Day Ball. Add in the obligatoryfangs and fake blood for this costume as well.

Halloween Costumes Inspired by Television Shows - Big Bang Theory
The Big Bang Theory follows the lives of several nerdy, geeky guys trying to impress woman and be noticed in life. The characters of Leonard, Sheldon, Raj and Howard make great ideas for Halloween costumes. First off, head to your nearest thrift store for your best clothing finds. Converse tennis shoes are a must for any of these characters. Over sized jackets and black rimmed glasses are great accessories for dressing like Leonard. Sheldon is a little more eccentric in his style of dress. Think plaid pants and layered t-shirts (short sleeve over long sleeve). He also wears a lot of tees typically found on Thinker Clothing's website. Click here to see ideas. Howard typically wears a mock turtle neck under his button up shirts. Raj is often seen wearing sweater vests over button up shirts with a track suit jacket.

Halloween Costumes Inspired by Television Shows - Grey's Anatomy
Another simple costume to put together comes to from the hit television show, Grey's Anatomy. Costume-goes can suit up in super comfy scrubs or the ever popular white coat to channel their inner Grey's Anatomy resident. Add a stethoscope and a clipboard and you're all set.

These are just five popular television shows that will inspire Halloween party-goers this season. Fortunately, you don't have to spend a lot of money to replicate any one of them.
