Five Hot Beauty Trends for Spring 2011

Jenna de Salea
After a long winter, by the beginning of March, you're looking for any way to look forward to warmer weather and spring! The beauty trends for spring are definitely taking a creative turn on classics we've come to love over the years. Below are the hottest spring trends that were shown at Fashion Week last fall when all of the clothes you're seeing now in stores debuted. There's attention to drama and color that hasn't been seen in several seasons.

1. Bright Matte Lipsticks
Matte lipsticks made a comeback last fall and winter, and now the trend continues to the spring with bright corals, pinks, and blush reds. Even the newest lip stains on the market are coming out with bright eye popping color that is anything but neutral. If you dare to experiment with these new hues, be sure to test drive before you buy, paying extra attention to working with the natural undertones of your skin.

2. Big And Bold Hair Accessories
After last spring's loose braids and up-dos, a more constructed look is back with large clips and barrettes being the focus along with structured twists, buns, and ponytails. Fashion designer Carolina Herrera, showcased her spring line with several bold, shell inspired clips and barrettes in one style. As many as three. So don't be afraid to mix it up a bit and go bold with hair accessories.

3. Dramatic Eyes With A Twist
The smoky eye was back in a big way last fall, and like the matte lip, it continues into the spring, but with a twist. The focus is now on bright bold non-traditional eyeshadow colors layered on each other for a kaleidescope effect. Bright yellows, pinks and orange shadows, liners, and mascara were a big hit in the fashion shows and are sure to be a hot thing to snap up in the spring.

4. Blush is Back!
Sticking with the bold colors coming this way for spring, designers moved away from the bronzed and bare looks, going for a more rosy hue. Bright pinks and peaches replaced the tans of season's past. This is another trend to try before you buy to make sure the effect isn't clownish, and to apply with a light hand, remembering to blend well.

5. Dry Waves and Bouffants
We knew waves were back in a big way for the spring just by the way they came back last fall. But instead of the glossy waves we've been seeing, the wavy hair for the spring has a drier look and is teased and molded into retro side ponytails, bouffants, and twists. Bigger is better!

So those are the upcoming beauty trends that are hot for this spring. Form color to hair to accessories, everything is big, bold and colorful. Don't be afraid to experiment with what works for you, and most of all...have fun!
