Five Inspirational Book of Mormon Verses: Verses from the Book of Mormon that Provide Comfort and Strength

Cindy Lynn
In these times of turmoil, troubles, and economic woe, the scriptures can often provide comfort and strength, as well as direction. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormons) believe both the Bible and the Book of Mormon to be the word of God and often turn to inspirational Book of Mormon verses when life becomes difficult or they feel the need for guidance. The Book of Mormon is a second testament of Jesus Christ, and these inspirational Book of Mormon verses may be a help to you ... regardless of what church you attend.

2 Nephi 9: 51
It's easy to get distracted by the unimportant things in life and to find ourselves traveling down a path that's not the one we intended. When that happens, this verse from 2 Nephi may be beneficial, "Wherefore, do not spend money for that which is of no worth, nor your labor for that which cannot satisfy. Hearken diligently unto me, and remember the words which I have spoken; and come unto the Holy One of Israel, and feast upon that which perisheth not, neither can be corrupted, and let your soul delight in fatness" (2 Nephi 9: 51).

Mosiah 4: 27
Because we live in a technologically advanced age where information and communication seem to travel at the speed of light, it's easy to feel overwhelmed with so many things happening at once. Sometimes obligations and the items on our to-do list reach the point where the list is never ending. When that happens, this inspirational verse in Mosiah may prove helpful, "And see that all these things are done in wisdom and order; for it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength. And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he might win the prize; therefore, all things must be done in order" (Mosiah 4: 27).

Mosiah 24: 14
When our problems seem like more than we can bear, this inspirational Book of Mormon verse reminds us that the Lord is aware of our situation and will assist us when needed. "And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions" (Mosiah 24: 14).

Alma 37: 37
Often times, life takes a drastic turn and we wonder where to go for assistance. There are numerous talk shows and television programs that offer what they think are helps, but is it really what we need? This inspirational Book of Mormon verse from Alma tells us where to get the assistance that will enable us to move forward with confidence: "Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good; yea, when thou liest down at night lie down unto the Lord, that he may watch over you in your sleep; and when thou risest in the morning let thy heart be full of thanks unto God; and if ye do these things, ye shall be lifted up at the last day" (Alma 37: 37).

Alma 38: 5
Sometimes life seems like one trial after another and we reach the point of despair, where we feel like giving up. However, if we put our faith in God we, much like the Jews in the ancient days of Israel, will be delivered from our troubles. "... I would that ye should remember, that as much as ye shall put your trust in God even so much ye shall be delivered out of your trials, and your troubles, and your afflictions, and ye shall be lifted up at the last day" (Alma 38:5).

Now that you've read these inspirational Book of Mormon verses, grab a minute to print off two hard copies ... one to put in your Book of Mormon and the other to put in your wallet or purse. You never know when you may need the comfort, strength, and direction they provide.
